    1. Ken Hamlin
    2. Deon Grant (former teamate with McCree)
    3. Tank Williams
    4. Gibril Wilson
    5. Troy Vincent

I like all of these guys especially Hamlin and Grant.

What do you guys think? Anyone that should be added or dropped?

Don't like any of them. It's time to draft a safety.

Why not sign Deon Grant? He's a playmaker, and he was a teamate of McCree's.

I dont think we'll have a shot at Landry or Nelson in the draft.
I think we have a better shot of getting a player like Sydney Rice or Robert Meachem when the fall to us.

He's mediocre, just like McCree. He doesn't have the athletic ability to stay with tight ends.

And by the way there is a VERY good chance that Reggie Nelson will be on the board at 30.

I dont think theres a shot in hell that Nelson falls to 30.
Its gonna come between Meriweather and Meachem, or Meriweather and Rice.

But if by some act of god Nelson does drop to 30, AJ might go with defense AGAIN! And not help Rivers by getting him a WR weapon.

In other words, still better than Kiel. I still want to draft a stud safety, but deon grant would be our best safety right now. he was a good corner at tennessee uni, so athletic ability shouldn't be a big problem. from what i read he's a question mark in the running game.

And as long as Nelson doesn't have major character issues, I agree there's a good chance we get him. Landry, no chance unless a trade, Griffin, maybe, but atleast Weddle or Wendling. AJ would not want Meriweather after all our spring cleaning.

    Look at it this way.
There are more good WR's in the draft then there are in free agency this year.
There are more good safetys in free agency then there are in the draft this year.

The smart thing to do would be draft a WR, sign a srong safety.

    Doss? :icon_rofl:
He's a clone of Terrence Kiel just more injury prone! The Colts drafted a safety last year so they could replace Doss in the first place.

Im all about Deon Grant, he'll have instant chemistry, he's a big fast player and he's got a nose for the ball.
Or Ken Hamlin, the guys a heavy hitter saftey.

As for the 5 safties, only 2 should be left at 30, and Ill take the 2 best recievers left (of the 5) over them.

Any reason why you think Jacksonville doesn't want Grant and the fans hate him :icon_shrug:

How do you know the fans hate him? Is there a link to this accusation or are you just assuming that thats why they're not resigning him?

Doss is the only ufa worth a shiz in coverage, i think my grandma could defend the pass better than kiel. doss is still young, he suffered from a horrible indy d when he was there and that turf crap they play on.

And after tearing the crap out of his knee he's a safter pick then Grant or Hamlin why?

Grant can cover too, and Hamlin knocks *****es out. I like both more then I like an injury prone Mike Doss, no offense.

how is hamlin safe? who knows how bad hes messed up in there. sure doss finished the season on IR but that was his first time. yea he might not get 100+ tackles a season, but hes got the skills and smarts which we need at that position, plus a ton of upside hes only 25 or 26. we dont need a kiel type that punishes ppl, we need a guy worth a fuk in coverage. dont count a guy out jus bc of one acl.

I dont think Kiel was the punishing type of safety. I dont think he was any kind of safety. LOL
I agree we need better coverage in the backfield, but what happens to our run defense if we get a coverage safety that cant tackle?

Grant is the hybrid, he's a big tackler but he's also better then Kiel and Hamlin in coverage.

its hard to gauge grant bc he seemed to have his best years when the rest of his defense was amazing, even in carolina. but kiel was good in the run defense i will give him that. i dont think the run defense will suffer if the strong safety isnt a big hitter. if nelson is gone at 30 then i dont think it would be a strecth to get griffin or rouse, both seem to have a lot of talent, and both had better combines than meriweather imo. i thought meriweathers biggest asset was his speed and athleticism but he really didnt help himself in the combine.
