I really like Darren…but he's not the player he was in '09.

I know announcers always drool over Sproles like he's some hyper-valuable weapon,
but I think he's just a very good role player. I was shocked to see his jersey and helmet
in the HoF…that All-Purpose Yards record in 2011 just really wasn't that big a deal…
nowhere near as impressive as what guys like Faulk did.

That said, I'm still a little surprised to see this move…I can't remember any
negative stories about him in New Orleans. Hard to believe there won't be
    numerous suitors at his door...

Sproles will be 31 at the start of next season and with woodhead essentially playing the same role id rather see that 3rd rb spot go to a more traditional style running back

Saints are in as bad a cap position as any team. Had to make a tough decision.

We need a KR/PR for sure, if he can do that and be a backup for Woodhead I'm all for it.

Side note: I bet the Saints target Thomas or Archer in the draft.

The one position was quickness is not a necessity..... other than the mental variety.

I was disappointed to see his production drop so suddenly last season (not just because I had him in fantasy football, but because I'm a big fan of his game), and this combined with his age doesn't leave me all that surprised that he got cut. Pierre Thomas did a decent job catching the ball out of the backfield and proved himself to be much more difficult to defend (due mostly to the fact that he was also their primary rusher), whereas defenses knew what was coming as soon as Sproles stepped onto the field.

No more Sprolesy, he's done and wouldn't add that much to the club.

Yes, let's sign him now before any of the other 31 teams get a chance to acquire him. I'm sure we could get him for just a few bucks, he would be an asset to our offense, and has promised not to be a cancer in the locker room.

Like many have said right now Woodhead is a younger better Sproles. Sproles was a fantastic scat back in his day and imho an average kick/punt returner so we have no need for him. We should not have let him go in the first place in 2011. He was missed, but not now. We need to go get ourselves a proper kick and punt returner and put our faith in Woodhead.
