I know it's not the off-season yet but I thought I'd bring this up anyways. Reggie loves SD and with the way our RB situation is I was wondering if you guys would want us to bring him here if he is cut. Although personally I think he'd be a lot better as a slot receiver than a RB.

I wouldn't mind it, especially if we couldn't hang onto LT or Sproles. More so if we lose Sproles because it'd provide us another explosive player.

I think we need the cap money to hang onto who we have now. And i'd take sproles over bush any day. But If ladanian is let go cause of cap money to keep other players I do think we will need another fast back. WE've got two bruisers in tolbert and hester. We'll need another quick back to rotate with sproles.

Bush SUCKS !!!!! He cannot stay healthy, and is not the RB we might need. He will stay in New Orleans if he accepts LESS money next year. They will cut him, then resign him at a lesser amount, since nobody else would pay him a high dollar salary for what he's done so far in the league.

Yeah Sproles is like a R. Bush knockoff... except productive.

I meant they don't have to cut him, since he will be a FA after the season, but will resign him at a lesser contract since he has not been productive enough to warrant a 8 million a year contract.

At eight million, not a chance. He doesn't do enough.

    BUT

At a decent salary to be our

    Punt Returner
    Kick Returner
    3rd down RB/Scat Back

I'd be interested. You gotta let him fit in the areas where he is best at. He won't be an LT in his prime. But as a Sproles/Faulk/Leon Washington type, he'd be an outstanding element and (considering the likeliness that Sproles will bolt in the off-season) he'd fill a need.

Only if Sproles cannot be resigned, but I'm betting on some teams willing to pay him 4 mil a year.

Why not get both? Reggie as the scat back and Bush as the bruiser.

And yeah if some team wants to pay Sproles big bucks then I love the guy but he's gone. Reggie wants huge money, then see ya buddy. If we can work something out and define his role then by all means

    Stats thus far:

    Sproles - $6.621M
    RSH - 69, YDS - 227, AVG - 3.3, FD - 8, TD - 1
    REC - 35, YDS - 393, AVG - 11.2, FD - 13, TD - 2
    PR - 18, TD - 1 : KR - 42, TD - 0

    R. Bush - $2.6M (BASE) $12.1M (CAPPED)
    RSH - 55, YDS - 277, AVG - 5.0, FD 14, TD - 5
    REC - 29, YDS - 207, AVG - 7.1, FD 8, TD 1
    PR - 21, TD - 0 : KR - 0, TD - 0

Sproles has played 11 games, Bush has played 9 games.

If we were to sign either one next year, how much do you think we sign for and how long?

For his production, I wouldn't mind giving Sproles a 4-year for about $4.5M a year, or around $18-$20M or so.

For Reggie, I'd give him a 3-year at about $3M, or around $10M or so.

I usually don't like to play GM because hot-damn, you throw out figures and they still won't land anywhere near what AJ will ink a player to.

I love Sproles, but I don't know about paying him $6.621M a year to handle the KO, PR, and the 3rd down/Scat-back role AGAIN.

And not as brittle. Bush has been plagued by knee injuries since his rookie year.

Obviously not for 8 mil, but lets say Sproles wants to be a starter and decides to leave, is it really worth Franchising him again (7 mil), or would you go with Reggie for 3-4 mil?

He hasn't done a lot in NO but he has talent and maybe a change of scenario and a return to Southern California will be a positive.

I wouldn't really use him as much at RB but I think he could be a really effective slot WR, along with being a scat back. So even if we keep Sproles and LT there would still be ways to use him.

But this is all based on the assumption that he'd be willing to take a reasonable deal. If not forget it.

Someone might trade for him, but knowing already that the saints do not want to keep that number they will not get ****. Low 2nd day at best.

He will restructure or get cut.

As a RB...No. Honestly i dont think he is as good as Sproles. He hasnt done dik as a RB rushing the ball.

Id can him too since he got beat out by UDFA Pierre Thomas. As a #2 overall pick, he pretty much is a bust.

If we can get him on the cheap i'm all for it.

If it'd take big bucks to bring him in I'll pass.

He is not the type of RB we will need. That guy could be Michael Bush. More likely a draft pick methinks.

I said it a couple of weeks ago but for me it is clear now that Sproles cannot be an every down back. Hopefully every GM in the league now realises this and Darren does a Dielman and signs a long term here for money that will set him up for life anyway. Apart from the 3rd and shorts getting stuffed all the time he is used properly for him and the team.

Yes, if we lost Sproles it might be worth looking at Reggie but not at 8m, no way.

Unless we're going to ditch Sproles... where would we put him?
