Fans thirsting for some football will get their first taste on Saturday, July 29 when the Lightning Bolts return to Chargers Park for Training Camp 2006.

Pro Bowl stars LaDainian Tomlinson, Antonio Gates, Shawne Merriman, Jamal Williams and Lorenzo Neal; fan favorites Keenan McCardell, Eric Parker and Darren Sproles; new starting quarterback Philip Rivers, first-round draft choice Antonio Cromartie and the rest of Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer’s squad will open camp on July 29 with practices at 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Chargers Park will be the place to be for fans of all ages. Bleacher seating is available for outstanding views of the entire practice field. There will be surprise visits from the 2006 Charger Girls as well as former players and fans will get the opportunity to meet select players after every practice. Concession stands will be offering plenty of your favorite food and beverage items along with the latest Chargers merchandise, including shirts, hats, jerseys and much more.

Parking for fans around Chargers Park is limited. On weekdays, parking is available on the street behind (east of) the Holiday Inn located at 3805 Murphy Canyon Rd. Overflow parking is available at the Holiday Inn. For weekend and night practices, parking is available in the PS Business Center lots along Murphy Canyon Rd. just south of Chargers Park. Parking on Murphy Canyon Rd. is allowed ONLY on weekends. There is no shuttle service from Qualcomm Stadium.

The team has several notable opportunities for fans. On Sunday, July 30, the team’s 2:00 p.m. practice will conclude with the exciting “Oklahoma Drill.” The one-on-one full-contact running, blocking and tackling drill is a Schottenheimer tradition.

Saturday, Aug. 5 will be a big day for Chargers fans. FanFest 2006, presented by Bud Light, returns to Qualcomm Stadium. Players will be signing autographs for fans 14 and under beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a performance by the Charger Girls and practice from 10:30-12:30 p.m.

The team has scheduled special night practices at Chargers Park for Aug. 3, Aug. 9 and Aug. 22. The gates will open at 6:30 and fans will get a chance to meet the team before practice. At these special night practices, kids will enjoy temporary tattoo artists, balloon artists, interactive games and everyone will be treated to behind-the-scenes shots on a giant NeoVision board.

Hats and sunscreen are recommended. Beach chairs, coolers, snacks, soft drinks and water are allowed. Alcoholic beverages, video cameras, pets and weapons of any kind are NOT PERMITTED.

Maybe the fact that FANFEST is sponsored by Bud Light, but the last sentence says "No Alcoholic Beverages allowed." :icon_mrgreen:

Those maggots did a quick turn around when they realized they were not screwing arouond with just any old fan.

The Bolt Mgt. changed their tune really really quick and when we cranked up the rhetoric on the 1090 that fateful morning.

It may have also been a reluctance to hear the words "give me a reach around" as well again on the radio or the TV for that matter. :icon_mrgreen:
