SAN DIEGO – City and county leaders on Friday announced a proposal to formally work together to find a new home for the San Diego Chargers.

The announcement of a proposed memorandum of understanding marks a new step in the quest to keep the professional football team in the region. The Chargers can begin negotiating with any U.S. city that wants an NFL team starting January 1.</blockquote>
