The Patriots' defense will be intensely focused on slowing down LaDainian Tomlinson. Given Bill Belichick's history of success in stopping these types of backs (e.g., Marshall Faulk), this matchup could turn on the passing game.
One player who will need to step his game up for New England is Ellis Hobbs.

The 8.5 YPA is quite bad, and Hobbs has been quite consistent in putting up bad numbers. He has allowed less than 8.0 yards per attempt in only four games this year, and one of those came against the inept Houston Texans' passing attack.

His problems are amplified by having to face Eric Parker. Parker is not a household name, but in the past two seasons, he has placed in the top 15 in success percentage for wide receivers (receptions + defensive penalties drawn/pass attempts). The Chargers will have to burn the Patriots' secondary to open up room for Tomlinson, and this matchup will be the key.

Parker, McCardell, and VJ all being healthy is huge for Rivers and our offense. :bolt: :abq2: :abq1: :helm1: :helm3:

Hobbs sucks. The Pats safeties are pedestrian. I would love to see a healthy mix of pass and run on our first drive, as I really think the Pats can be had in the passing game.

I would love to see them open up with a long bomb to your boi to set the tone and let the Pats know that hell has come, and brought the bolts with it!

I agree, we have to pour it on both offensively and defensively. Score point's and don't give none up. Championship defenses step it up and do the shut down. Our O needs to open the playbook up or toss it out with the trash. Victory is at hand. :bolt:

Having Rodney out is a bonus as well. He is one of their play makers and the one who usually gave Payton fits. Glad he will be on the sidelines for this one.

You're praying that we lose. I can understand as this is the highlight of your season but give it a rest.

And we can answer it, just as soon as you explain how our passing attack works once it gets into the red zone.

OR as you guys call it, the Twilight Zone

Fewer than Tomlinson by himself. Almost half, actually.

16 - For an ENTIRE season. That includes FOUR defensive TD's too. Choketowns offense (truly offensive) scored a grand total of 12 touchdowns in 16 games. Pathetic.

    Stickin to the topic...

    Chargers offense
LT the MVP is incredible. You cant shut this guy down. If he isnt running, he's receiving. And if he's not receiving, he's throwing. The big problem for the pats on sunday is, if you try to slow this guy, you will forget about the other offensive weapons on this team. Great TE Antonio Gates will burn you. Vincent Jackson is becoming a very good receiver and with his size advantage over the Pats DB's, it could be a long day. Rivers doesnt have to be perfect sunday. He has to control this game without making silly mistakes.

    Pats Defense
No Rodney Harrison, spells trouble for the pats. Last week, the Pats DB's got burnt by the jets receivers. Pats LB's are solid but age is beginning to show. The DL is solid but they are beatable. This game could live up to the hype, but if they dont watch out, the chargers can take control of this game and keep Brady off the field.

    Enough that we are 14-2.

How many Faider Wide Outs have caught TD passes... Oh wait, dont answer that, 2-14 speaks for itself....

    Patriots DL
Very similar to ours almost to a T (Warren - Olshansky, Wilfork - Williams, Seymour - Castillo). Will be tough to manhandle, stamina will be the key as they don't have much depth especially at NT

    Patriots LB
Very talented team players but no real 'stars'. Cain isn't a good pass rusher, watch inside blitzes from Vrabel and Colvin is damned good too. But they're not as talented as a whole compared to the Chargers.

    Patriots DBs
Very burnable very beatable outside of Samuel

Samuel is both burnable and beatable.

Banta-Cain is a POS he got 3 sacks on 3 consecutive plays on sunday night football against some ****** right tackle. He has no chance against our bookends.

Wilfork runs out of stamina very quickly and Hardwick and Goff handled him pretty damn well last year. Seymour is overrated and Warren is better than Igor.

I hope Rivers punks Samuels witha pump fake and goes deep 6 to VJ!!!! Their secondary is suspect, but so is our blitz pickup.....and the Genius knows that.........so Manu and LT better be ready to give Rivers enough time for our receivers to get open.:abq2: :icon_toast:
