I highly recommend you catch the Inside the NFL (Showtime) wrap up on the AFC West. Sapp just takes Al Davis to task. It was not only entertaining, but also eye opening to see just how facked up things are in Joakland.

Some things that Sapp had to say about the Al Davis "led" Raiders:
    - Sapp had no idea that the team was so disfunctional when he went to Joakland. He was actually kind of bent that his friends (Buchanon) on the team didn't warn him.
    - Sapp warned all players to stay away from the team if they had a choice.
    - He recalled that the team would practice and gameplan for a game all week just to have Al Davis force the coach to change plans on the Friday before the game.
    - Al Davis would call down to the field in the middle of a game to change plays.
    - Al Davis still thinks you can call a game like you could in the 80's
    - The new coach (who used to be Oaklands OLine coach?) was never a vocal part of the team. He worked with the Oline and generally sat quiet in the background. Sapp thinks this guy will fail as a coach but got the job because he doesn't talk back to Al.

In the past I would have probably accused Sapp of making excuses for his poor play late in his career but with what has been going down the past couple of months I'm inclined to believe everything he said.

    LONG LIVE AL DAVIS!!!!!

Old people with alot of money can be problems. There ought to be places we can send these rich old farts to to fight for the freedom that they are misusing. And yes there are manipulating young farts that have weasled their way up the scummy ladder of success as well that should be cast off on rafts in shark infested water.

That explains Art Shell's bored look when he was on the sidelines. He just stood there waiting for the next call from Al.

Other then that, he didn't call any plays anyway. Ryan ran the offense and B&B dude called that pitiful Offense.

Shell was just Al's secretary on the sidelines.

    Question...

Al says Lane was fired for 'cause'. At least I think that is the word he used.

What does this mean?, never heard this phrase this side of the pond. Apparently he does not have to pay Lane any more because of the reason he was fired?....

    Tx.

It basically means the employee did something specific that violated the terms of his employment.

A good example would be this:

If you have a salesman, and he's worked for your company for a couple years and he just isn't pulling the numbers and is showing no signs of improving, you're probably going to fire him. In that case the employee is being fired for "general lack of performance," or any of a few other ways of describing it.

But let's say you have a salesman, and he's pulling the numbers, but you find out that he's been sexually harrassing a fellow employee, or making cash deals on the side, or he got into an violent altercation with one of your customers, or he's making false promises and/or false claims in order to win business...whatever. Now if you fire him you're firing him for "cause." There is something specific that he did that is causing you to fire him rather than you just generally being dissatisfied with his performance.

Being fired for a general lack of performance is pretty common, and isn't grounds for your employer in any way taking legal action against you to withhold benefits or salary that are due. However, being fired for cause can open you up to retribution by your employer.

What Al is trying to say is that the Raiders didn't fire Kiffin because he underperformed as a coach. He's saying they are firing Kiffin for "tarnishing the image of the franchise by making embarassing and false statements to the press."

A team can't tell a coach "you didn't win enough, therefore we're firing you for cause." An employee can only be held accountable for things that are entirely, 100% within his control, and winning is not one of those things. That's why if a coach is fired before his contract expires, it doesn't void the contract.

However, if the coach does something that specfically violates the terms of his employment, then the coach can be fired "for cause," meaning the organization will try to void the remainder of his contract.

We have a saying here......."just 'cause".

My kids use it all the time when I ask them why they've done something bad.

Maybe that's what Al was meaning

Anybody with a lot on money can't be problems. Pacman, Brittany Spears, George Steinbrenner-maybe even me. Love to find out some day.
