Who do we acquire to run this D? Promote somebody? Hopefully get Wade back if Jerry fires him? Thoughts?

 I'll give you the points RTL. I think he would be on my list too. He does know the 3-4 and did a great job with Ravens as I recall (or was it another team?) I think we better act fast of Rivera leaves. Which leads me to another questions. WHY THE HELL WOULD RIVERA TAKE THAT JOB? Oh yeah, a serious pay rai$e......

Maybe Rex Ryan will get snubbed a head gig, that'd be a nice pickup.

If we are going to run the bend but don't break D, lets find Sam Bass - he was a master at it.:unsure:

Nolan has been linked to both Denver and Green Bay. Ryan would be my next choice, or bring back Wade. He had a good thing going with the players we have.

Yep, that's what I've been hearing/reading. He is spoken of v highly, don't know why though. He's been lucky to have the players he has.

there is a larger issue if we lose Rivera

I think we all would agree that when Rivera was brought in, he was seen as a future NFL head coach after Norv's contract was up. If now Rivera is gone too, Norv has one more year left on his contract after the 2009 season. We'd have a DC for maybe one year before AJ and company would have to make a decision on Norv whether to either keep him (and extend him) or to release him (because you won't let a head coach stay on a one year deal).

So we'd have to find a DC for one year, pretty much our last push year with all our big guys under contract, and then from there we might lose him as well as our HC and most of our staff. So we'd have to rebuild the coaching staff from scratch.

I don't know what I'd prefer, but from everything I've heard Pagano would be the next in line.

There's a guy in Cleveland named Romeo Crennel who used to coach a decent defense up in New England.

Granted they were a disappointment this year, but I heard an interview with Willie McGinest that made me think the players still believed in him.

Would at least be worth a shot bringing him in.

If we were to lose Rivera I would definitely like Romeo to become our DC.

Romeo Drennels Defenses with the Patriots were punishing to say the least.

I would love us to get Crennel if Rivera goes somewhere else.

This is moot. Rivera is staying, I guarantee it.

Hey TK. Happy new year. I hope you are right. I want to see what he can do with a full off season and mini/training camp to get the D in shape.
