As one of the few Marty lovers on the face of the Earth, I would be very pleased if he received an extension.

Jesus, we're only nine games in. This team has as much talent as any team in the league. Nobody should be surprised that we're 7-2. And Marty has proven many times over that he knows how to manage a team during the regular season.

Why even talk about an extension untili we see how Marty does in the playoffs? :icon_shrug:

agreed, im all for keeping the guy around because of his genuine concern and love for our football team. only problem is, next time we lose a game reg season or post, the same people that are talking extension now will want his head.

HELL NO Marty hasn't earned an extension. Win some freaking PLAYOFF GAMES first. If he doesn't win some Playoff Games THIS YEAR, not only should he not get extended, he should be FIRED.

Getting there just isn't good enough anymore.

Also, the writer must not know that AJ is the guy that would have to extend him, not Spanos.

I think, like a lot of you, that Marty needs to win big in the playoffs. I'm talking at least going to the championship game, although, if we don't win the superbowl, I will be disappointed in the season. Yes, I have THAT much confidence in this team.

But marty will be around as long as he doesn't allow his newly found brass pair to retract back into his cavity.

I second that. My only complaint is that Marty needs to get them ready from the first kick off. He seems to be good at charging them up at halftime.....not good enough (but good enough for 7-2).

I would wait until the season is completed before talking contracts with Marty.

He needs to get us in the playoffs and go deep. If we go one and out so does Marty. We get to the AFC Championship which I fully expect, he stays.

I dig Marty and I have had issue with his game management but not his play calling as some seem to think Marty calls the plays.

When Cam says he calls all the plays and fans still think it is Marty, I just give up. Hell he even called it CamBall to prop himself yet fans still say no way...it is Marty because it is too hard to accept they are wrong. Both men have admitted their roles yet fans say Marty-ball.

It is as tired as a high school cheer led my members on social security.

Trumpy, you sure like to bag on your fellow Bolt Brothers. You have something negative to say about us in almost every post.

I think it goes both ways.

You only feel bagged on when the truth surfaces and others run it.

    For instance, Marty or Rivers.

Some make Marty out to be some nin-com-poop who will never succeed to win the big one --- yeah right.

Some made out Rivers to be less than Brees - because.

    Hmmmm.....

The bagging goes both ways and now that the team is the highest scoring machine in the league the "I hate Marty clan is grown amazingly silent". Nothing has changed as we have been one of the most efficient offenses for the last few years and one of the least penalized.

Now that Rivers is showing his "Chosen One" billing and potential fans are seeing it was not just trumpeting sunshine up Bolt asses.

    Funny that ......... :bolt:

    Yep.

On the otherhand, I think Andy Reid and Fisher will be out there come 2007-2008. Unfortunately, Jerry Jones is enamoured with Fisher so he'll probably go to the Cowboy's.

With Marty as the HC, Cam as the OC, and AJ as the GM, we've been one of the 5 top scoring offenses for 3 straight years now, after they've worked together to put the pieces into place. The defense has also improved over the past 3 years as well. Kudos to Wade Phillips.

Why would anyone want that to change?

Just as the coaches need to make halftime adjustments.....we as fans should also be alowed to make half season judgements. I am on the keep Marty for now. Only because he has shown the ability to open up. Maybe he doesn't make the play calls himself, but I'm sure he has a say on the gameplan itself! If Marty's butt is on the line, I would "expect" him to have some input.

IMO, and based on last years inquiries/opportunities, two of these guys (Marty/Wade/Cam) will be leaving - just a matter of when and who AJ wants to retain...

PREDICTION: In a move ala Brees vs. Rivers, AJ pulls the trigger and names Cam his headcoach and says bye-bye to Marty. Wade sticks around for a Superbowl run.

Ok, the last one is troublesome. I think Wade does leave unfortunately. :icon_sad:

If Marty does leave, and AJ promotes Cam to HC, do you think Cam decides to still call the offensive plays, ala what Bill Billick is doing in Baltimore? Or does he promote some underling to be the new OC?

yes,... you mean like Shanahan in Denver...

Cam has grown up big time in the last 2 years... he's young and will be a VERY HOT commodity... I say, keep the "continuity" - Rivers & Cam...

Our current coaches are better than Hud. For the price of one Hudson Houck, we got Jack Henry *AND* John Ramsdell.
