I heard it on Hacksaw, so take it for what that is worth.

But he has refused to speak to the local media since he was called out for bone headed plays in last years playoff game, mainly the headbutt, to which he responded "If anyone thinks they can do it better than me, then get out on the field" (paraphrased). That comments created quite a buzz, and he has refused to speak to the SD Media since then.

From Borrego to Bonita, what do you think Charger fan? As long as Shaun Phillips shows up and makes the plays, who cares?

I know, that is why I didn't report it as fact and disclosed where I heard it. Knowing him, it may just be a completely made up story, that would be about par for how factual he normally is

The media and the NFL do. It is part of their job, whether they like it or not. The media makes the league a ton of money, and players are required to speak to the media

Thanks for the insight, donkeyfan. I did not know that. In case you lost track of my post, I was quoting a typical Quacksaw line in the first sentence. The second sentence is my opinion. Nothing new.

Well, I am an azz man. I have this Denver Donkey's pick hanging up in my office right next to my Rivers poster. It doesn't go over very well with the Broncos fans as you can imagine

Pretty sure this Hacksaw just pulling a sensationalist media tactic (a la Limbaugh) and selectively leaving out certain relevant parts of a story to make it sound more extreme that it is. Phillips had a run-in with one particular radio program's hosts (I believe they broadcast on the same affiliate as Hacksaw) and swore that he'd never come back and never give them any sort of quote moving forward because of the experience (which I believe had to do with the fact that they kept bringing up the boneheaded plays in the playoff game and refused to let him plug his charity event - which was his primary reason for coming on the show).

So yes... Shaun Phillips "could" get fined if he continues to refuse to speak to one particular media group, but so long as he's speaking to those tied to the Associated Press (i.e. the UT, the LA Times, USA Today, ESPN, Fox Sports) that could is highly unlikely. Hacksaw's just blowing it up to make it sound bigger than it is and like he's refusing to talk to media as a whole.
