According to Kevin Acee from the Union Tribune, Merriman just signed his tender.

    well, no.

But yesterday, when the reports were surfacing that he was going to report this weekend...he posted that himself.

I'm just saying, kind of a dumb move, to say that yesterday, and report to camp today. Why say anything?

I think McNeil wants to be here, he is just sitting out of all of those 2 adays and will be in camp in and around the 3rd preseason game this year.

I hope you're right, I still hope someway, somehow he'll be here the entire season, VJ?, I think he'll sit out the year and get big bucks from the raiders or someone like that in 1 or 2 years

So he forfeited $2.5 million or so just to miss 2-a-days? :icon_huh:

I don't understand what all the big hub-bub is about. All he said yesterday was that he didn't say he was coming in and that if it was reported then it was the Bolts or a "source" that said it. I'm sure his comments were directed to whomever reported the fact that he was going to be in camp this weekend that he himself did not say that to to reporter. It's all just a play on words or he said she said. Get over it people, he is signed and he is going to play this year!!! :icon_banana:

Nope. Wasn't he originally tendered to make something like $3+ million for this year? So since he chose not to sign it, it was dropped to something like $500K. So my point was, if he chose to avoid 2-a-days then it cost him $$$. But I'm sure you already new that.

Good to read Shawne is back.
Hole defense has to show they're SB bound this year.

His tender & the 110% increase in his salary were essentially the same. Since it's been discussed ad nauseum, I thought you were referring to some other punitive financial measure that I was unaware of.

If McNeil wanted to just miss 2-a-days anyone want to figure out how much he would have lost if he signed the tender before the deadline and then skipped them (thus getting fined).

    We're discussing Merriman, not McNeill.

I'm all too aware of the situation with our RFA's, thanks.

It's clear to me AJ has been right bout Merriman. There is no good reason why he held out until now other than he is an idiot. Having said that poorly advised / stupid he may be all I care about is that he goes out onto the field and levels QBs all day long. I fear though that we've seen the best of 56 already and he will never reach those heights again. Prove me wrong Mr Merriman.

I believe that his holdout was for a couple of reasons.

    1. Limit his exposure to getting hurt in TC. I don't necessarily support the decision, but I can certainly undestand given he has no long-term security.
    2. Show of some solidarity with VJ & McNeill.

We can all argue until the cows come home who is right, wrong, stupid, has much to prove, etc.

A few things that I'm either damn sure of or pretty sure of ....

Shawne has to be a beast this year to get a new contract from AJ.
There are questions concerning McNeill's spine that play into that decision.
VJ won't be playing for the Chargers again. Not this year or any other.
