Now i know i'm not an American but after the VA tech massacure..i think that America should ban guns being owed legally because if you get a madman like the VA tech shootings..people will use then to kill innocent people..it has happened to many time in America when people go to high schools/college and Uni and a lone gunman goes on a rampage and kills innocent students

so the Question is...what is the price for the right to bear arms

EDIT: This is not my Current view

One problem with banning the right to bear arms in the USA is that there are already so many guns distributed across the country. If guns ever were banned, I guarentee the criminals wouldn't be turning in their guns. I worked in Mexico before and guns are illegal in that country. So basically, only these bad guys have guns there. There are regular shootings and even occasionally massacres in Mexico.

I favor decreasing the punishment for non violent crimes and severely increasing the punishment for violent and gun crimes. I believe in capital punishment for those that take another's life. In this case it wouldn't have mattered because the gunman took his own life.

Still I believe a determined individual could have gained access to multiple guns even if guns were outlawed in the USA. There is no way to remove every gun that is already out there.

Enforce the laws already on the books & make offenders pay a stiff price for owning/using guns illegally. Law-abiding citizens should be able to own guns for both recreation & protection.

No. It wouldn't solve anything for reasons Thumper stated.

The U of U is (I believe) the only college campus where you can legally bear arms (with a permit)

As you can imagine this was a huge topic of discussion yesterday. I have two thoughts on the matter...

    1. If someone wants a gun bad enough, s/he will get one and use it... Legal or not.

    2. Actually the Utah laws might make someone think twice about opening fire on the U of U campus. S/he will never know who is legally packing and ready to take them down in the event their life is threatened.

I understand in the STATE of Virginia, it is legal to openly carry a gun (holstered pistol, for example) as long as it's not concealed. Of, if one has a CCW, then it's ok.

VPI decided (rightly or wrongly) NOT to allow weapons on campus. In Texas years ago, the was a shooting at a chain restaurant where some ******* lit up a whole bunch of folks, just going from aisle to aisle randomly killing folks eating their lunch.

A lady that survived sat on the curb outside sobbing uncontrollably, because she had a pistol under the seat of her car, but didn't put it in her purse because Texas didn't have a CCW law. Shortly after this incident, legislation was passed.

This is why America was formed, and why we left England. We have the right to bear arms. A right that has been etched into stone! The gun did not kill anyone, it was a human being that pulled the trigger. Maybe we should ban the stupid people, and send them all back to the mother land.

But remember we do have the right to freedom of speech, another right that we enjoy here in America. Now if you do not like the comments, then dont ask the question.

thats probably the sensible idea cause even if you'd banned them..i very much doubt that all 200 million guns would be off the streets

Those are the legal guns, there are more if you want one.
Then again everything carries a price.

You're entitled to your view...you MUST expect that some are going to disagree.

There's few things that I'm more passionate about than this issue, which you, again, have no clue about.

There are many Americans that would like to see exactly what you espouse. They'll get a piece of my mind, as well.

The primary difference is that they are American citizens, and they are adults.

You asked a question, and now you are getting your answer.

It happens a lot, every time some jerk unloads a bunch of bullets on people, there is a knee jerk reaction to ban guns.

We just had a bunch of terrorists fly some airplanes into some buildings, should we ban airplanes? There are a lot of car accidents every single day killing people. Should we ban Cars?

    From onea The Brothers-

HOW TO INSTALL A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM:

    1. Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work
    boots.

    2. Place them on your front porch, along with several Copies of Guns & Ammo
    magazine and several NRA magazines.

    3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazine.

    4. Leave a note on your door that reads: Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim,
I went to the gun shop for more ammunition. Back in an hour. Don't mess
with the pit bulls -- they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him
up real bad. I don't think Killer took part in it but it was hard to tell
    from all the blood.

PS - I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside.

now i know that my view that i posted this morning was on impulse cause all the UK Newspaper front page was about the VA tech shootings and now i've re-read what i posted and it wouldn't solve the problem..it looks good on paper but you just wouldn't be able to get the guns off the street
