I guess we'll see .. Personally I think Norv lacked talent in Washington and Oakland.

Doesn't Marty have a bad record in games decided by 3 points or less?

Weren't the Chargers something crazy like 1-9 in those the past few years...even with the plethera of wins surrounding those losses?

One thing is indisputable: If this team makes it to the playoffs, Norv can do no worse than Marty.

    The question is:

Was Norv enabling them to remain competitive in alot of games they should have been blown out in?

Or was Norv keeping them from winning close games?

The thing I don't understand is, if Norv was a really awful head coach, he would not have laste as long as he did in Washington. Obviously, enough people thought highly of him to keep him around.

I'm sure Washington fans are jaded by Norv, and they should be.

Yeah, I respect Ramon as a knowledgeable football fan. But like others have mentioned, we lost almost every close game under Marty before 2006. But last year the team learned how to win those games. I have full confidence that we will continue to do so.

Just to set the record straight, it will be called Shelmon-Ball and not Turner-Ball.

Clarence Shelmon is set to rip it up. Norv will be laughing like Marty was when we called for the fumble-rooskie.

I have that much faith in this dudes ability from what I have seen.

The Redskins had no real talent when Turner was there. They had a bunch of old players with a Head office with no real drafting talent. He didnt have any great offensive coordinators nor defensive coordinators. The Red skins were a failing franchise.

Look I would be the first to put the blame on Turner but the facts speak louder than any Homer's fan hatered for Turner. Its easy to blame him however:

-The Redskins were on the decline before he got there.
-The Redskins have not recovered under Marty or their current Coach.
The fact is they have more talent now than they ever had under Turner however their not doing much better. Now you can call it the curse of the Redskins or whatever but this shows me a declining franchise which is now on the upswing.
-The Redskins themselves folded under pressure. The play calling was good, the players couldnt execute. They needed more discipline. But Turner took a team void of talent, with little talent on his coaching staff and turned it into a team that went to the playoffs.

The Redskins were a crappy team that played well and then crumbled at the end. They couldnt finish the stretch. I put some of the blame on Turner, but most on the players. Do they really need the same speeches over and over again? The millions of dollars, respect of their peers, playing the game, and the fans is that not enough? They need some bullshit speech and everything will be alright?

Oh man .. that is absolutely ridiculous. Do you think they brought Norv in to oversee the defense!? Don't think that Norv isn't going to be putting in his input into the system. Offense is his thing. I think I actually read somewhere that Norv will be calling the plays. While Shelmon is qualified to be OC, he is relatively new to the gig.

Are you referring to Shelmon calling plays in preseason games against vanilla defenses run by reserves and practice squad fodder? :icon_huh:

Yeah... I mean who wouldn't feel completely comfortable putting the fate of our offense in the hands of a guy who called plays for one half of a pre-season game? :icon_shrug:  :icon_tease:

Versus the Niners, no less!! :icon_rofl:

I am calling it. Just like I called Rivers.

    Shelmon has "IT".

The only thing Turner said was when it was 3rd and three he would make the call. I think he meant 4th and three but anyway.....I have not read or seen where Turner will call ALL the plays.

    leisure is full of shiit.

No he did not. Show me a link quoting him saying Norv calls all the plays.

Norv is there to oversee Shelmon calling Norv's (Gilman/Coryells) system.

I am no Norv Turner lover but if this dude can deliver me a Lombardi, CROWN HIS ***. :helm1:

I think Norv will probably be making a lot of the plays in the beginning of the year easing Shelmon into the role. If Shelmon shows Norv something, then I see Norv relinquishing some control as the season progresses.
