I don't know about his childhood, but I do see Lance abused in this forum on a regular basis. :D

I thought "abused" was only a synonym for "overly loved" in Appalachia…but…well…okay...

I'm sure you possess a gene that had nothing to do with nurture but...this is a funny judgmental post outside any intended funniness.

I'll be disappointed with any draft position that isn't #32.

Darn it; when you use the word funny twice in a sentence next time, at least try to make it a funny sentence

P.S. Yes, I am missing the nurturing gene ;)

But have plenty of the torturing genes

The draft is a crap shoot anyway, especially once you get past the top 5 or so picks.

Complaining about draft position at the expense of the playoffs just because they didn't quite make it is lame.

Name me a sports fan who doesn't want his favorite team win a championship and I'll name you a bridge in China I have for sale.

But that doesn't mean getting close but no cigar is worthless.

The season is a ride. You hope it ends with a championship, but you enjoy it along the way until it ends, even if it's unfortunately prematurely.

Anybody who doesn't try and enjoy the ride and thinks you only celebrate after a Super Bowl win isn't getting it and is likely only in it to live vicariously through other people playing for a team they're not really a part of.

Of course losing isn't acceptable, but at the end of the day I'm more satisfied with a longer ride than I am with one that stops before the playoffs just because the draft position is slightly better in the case of the latter.

Also, even from a "All I care about is a championship and nothing else makes me happy" perspective, playoff experience is more crucial than you seem to think. It may not mean much this year if they fall short, but it'd help a lot next year and beyond.

Looking at your favorite team from the perspective of what you want others to view it as is a flawed approach.

We all want the Chargers to win a Super Bowl. I just don't think the difference between drafting 15-19 and drafting 20-30 is so crucial that it'd deter that from happening.

Also, this team just went through a front office overhaul. It's a tad premature to be saying they're "falling apart".

Because several here were ready to tank early in the season for a favorable draft position.

20yo and you're frustrated the chargers haven't won a SB? Nut up son - you've got a LOT of frustrations left in life if you live to even an average age.

Although it would be fun and exciting to say "we got Clowney, Mack or Barr"

I'm quite content with our number 18 picks of Liuget, and Ingram
our 49th pick or Kendall Reyes
our 79th pick of Donald Butler
our 110th pick of Ladarius Green
    our 76th of Keenan Allen
and most importantly our 37th of Eric Weddle

Like a posted stated before "its not where you draft, it's who you draft"

I'd rather be in SD shoes in the playoffs with no name guys like
Keiser, Walker, Guy, Lissemore, Addae, Gachkar

Than to have another bad season with another high pick again in the 2014 draft after having high draft pick studs like
Dareus, Gilmore, Spiller, McKelvin, and even a guy like Mario Williams

I kinda like that Gates fella; of course none of the draft-savvy GMs saw him as worthy of
any of the 262 picks in '03…it's almost as if "lose to win" (draft picks) is a dubious strategy :whistling:

At least drafting 32nd :D is going to make the first round interesting till the end, so we have that going for us, which is nice

I'll gladly allow Lance to donate his left, you know what, for a Lombardi. I doubt anyone would miss it anyway, no reason to.

C'mon, he's just asking for a Super Bowl win or two…is that too much for a newbie to ask?

I remember being 20 years old once and frustrated the Chargers hadn't won a Super Bowl. I believe we went 1-15 that year.

Brings a tear to my eye to see young Bolts fans earn their stripes like the rest of us.

That was in 2000 and my first year of having season tickets.

My wife (then girlfriend) actually fell asleep during that game. CBS interrupted the game because an announcement was about to be made regarding the results of the 2000 election (when Bush won & Florida had issues with their count).

Well, I feel better knowing you're "nt upset."

(I think my mistake was taking "Im tired of the chargers being mocked. I hate it" to mean that
you were really tired of the Chargers being mocked…and that you hated the ongoing mocking…)

The only time there's even an iota of merit to "lose to win a better draft slot" is if you're in dire need of a franchise QB and there's one available at the top of the upcoming draft. And even then that's no guarantee.

But either way if you're in position to even try for that you're obviously not going to be in position to be discussing whether or not you should "screw yourself" by making the playoffs.

Even when I was in my early 20s and did share his flawed mindset of wanting my favorite team to be good in large part because it'd make other fans look at them better I still didn't share the silly mindset that it's better to miss the playoffs than make them just because the former comes with a slightly better draft position.
