San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson has a detached tendon that connects one of his adductor (groin) muscles to his pubic bone, according to team sources.

Tomlinson has been listed as a game-time decision against the Indianapolis Colts in Saturday night's AFC wild-card playoff game with a groin strain, and sources say he is going to attempt to play because physical therapy has given him some relief.

His playing status is expected to be determined after he tests the injury during a pregame warmup.

Doctors discovered through scans that Tomlinson had an "avulsion" on one of three adductor muscles, meaning a tendon that connects the muscle to the pubic bone has detached, team sources said. The injury can affect Tomlinson's ability to make sharp cuts and other movements.

It is unknown if Tomlinson eventually will require surgery to reattach the tendon.

Chris Mortensen is a senior NFL analyst for ESPN.

Fuk it there goes his trade value and we can add RB to the offseason wish-list.

I hope Bennett is activated today and I also hope that field is muddy as hell.

Don't have the balls to say what? That Tomlinson is a ***** because his tendon ripped away from his pelvic bone? Does that make him fragile? Dude is one of the most durable backs in NFL history.

I see more fans with their heads too far up their own azzes to see the truth than fans with their heads up players' asses. It's like reading posts from a bunch of phucking emotionally retarded junior high whiners who can only deal with their disappointment by lashing out at players like LT who have given all they have to give in search of the Lombardi.

Groin injuries are usually the product of explosive movement rather than impact.

You don;t have the balls to say LT is past his prime and will becoime an increasing debt to the salary cap.

Go ahead and make this to be another LT sucks post and thinking you have some moral code which make you special. You are nothing more than another lemming who does not like to face the truth or is so arrogant to presume to know what I think. That is the sign of a coward. I have told you all along you are a fraud pretending to be something he is not before and here it is again. Bravo. :icon_toast:

I think we're all aware that LT is getting old.

I think the disagreement lies in whether or not that means we should trade him.

I can make a list of who's who of Chargers players who got traded and that is just the way the game is played.

LT is past his prime and is becoming a burden to the team not only in production but against the salary cap.

Fans want what is best for their 'feelings" and that is what is the problem.

I'll start off by saying that I'm not completey against your jihad to trade LT, I'm just trying to think of it rationally.

If some trumpet blowing fan in San Diego can realize that LT is past his prime and is more of a "burden" to his team don't you think other GMs are aware of this as well?

With that in mind, do you think we'd really get anything of value for him in a trade that it'd make it worth the bad PR that'd come with trading him?

In pro football, business is business, and to keep a player for sentimental reasons makes no sense and wins no ball games. That doesn't mean the player's football life and contributions are over, but he may not fit into a team's plans of trying to build for the future.

LT at this point is getting up there in age, he has lost a step, and injuries are beginning to hamper his productivity more and more. I'm certain there are many teams who would like him on their rosters, but it is clear at this point, the Chargers probably need to seek a younger running back with a much cheaper salary. It is probably prudent to consider trading him, or at least considering the options available...from a business perspective.

The Chargers need to seek a younger RB to groom as his replacement is irrelevant to the discussion for 2 reasons.

    1) That need is apparent by the mere fact that LT is getting old

    and

    2) That can be done with or without trading LT

So much for the ruse i thought Norv was trying to pull off. This stinks, we get a shot and two of our premier players go down. God, whatever we did, we promise to never do it again.:bolt:

When LT is feeling right, he's still an elite back in this league. I think we can all agree the problem is injuries...He's playing through them like he has his entire career...but he's healing slower and they are hampering him a lot worse on the field.

We need a complimentary back...and it's not Sproles, who is not a full time RB and is perfect in the 3rd down back role he's in.....and not Hester, who is just not explosive enough. If we get another back to basically fulfill the Turner role in our offense, we can have sort of a MJD / Fred Taylor dynamic.

LT needs less carries to stay healthy come playoff time....and we need some upgrades on our OLine so our backs don't get hammered every other time they receive a handoff.

If LT plays tonight.....I can see us using him in goal line situations. Injured or not, the guy has a nose for the endzone like almost no player in history....and I don't think his injury will prevent him from going vertical like he did last year against the Titans......Otherwise..a combination of Sproles and Hester is going to have to get it done.....and we NEED a running game tonight to win.
