This guy is awesome! Loved the video.. And what really stands out to me is that scouts say he gets better as the game goes on so we can really wear down opponents now. If he keeps up his pace from Fresno (100+ yards each game), he will easily break 1000 yards. I'm so stoked, he's the perfect guy for our system. Ryan Mathews you are a beast!

The more I keep seeing of Mathews the more I think we did not spend to get him. :icon_banana:

I can go on a limb here and say that he might be a steal in the Draft because Mathews might be even better than Spiller as a Pro as per where they were selected.

    Excellent video.

What I liked about it, and what in turn I dont like about the combine is they had him in pads and a helmet.

That can change the way someone runs and what they do. Looks like he has some athleticism, but we need to see how he handles the speed and caliber of LBs he will face at the new level.

He looks promising. Let's hope he pans out. Like most unproven rookies I'm skeptical and wont place the "beast" label him 'till he proves he can handle the pro game.

He's been chugging for several years without a decent OL and still puts up great performances.

Name a Fresno State OL that has been drafted in the first 3 rounds the last 4 years.

    HINT: There weren't any.

The only Fresno St. OL drafted since 2007 was:

    2007 - 7th round - Chris Denman (Tampa Bay)

That means he's been the NCAA leading rusher and has been ripping off all those runs with an average-at-best OL.

We should find out whether it was LT's decline or the lack of an O-line is the problem

My guess is it's the former.

If you watch Ryan's highlight video(s), you'll see several times people tried to do a "Donnie Edwards" style ankle-biter tackle of his feet.

The last few years, such tackles tripped up L.T. frequently and he'd go down.

However, Ryan would just stumble a little but keep on going.

Rep to you. Nice stuff. I thought from the announcement this was good choice and that we didn't over pay to get him, especially when we wound up with Thomas anyway. He'll improve the O Line just by doing what he does.
