    Sporting News picks Chargers

The Sporting News will predict the Chargers as champions of Super Bowl XLIII in its preview issue.

A writer from there asked me if I thought that was a good pick or not. I said it makes sense.

I did caution the writer that they will probably open the season without Nick Hardwick and maybe also Antonio Gates and Andrew Pinnock. And I think their schedule is tough after the first five games.

But here's a team in its second season under head coach Norv Turner and defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell that returns 20 starters after going to the AFC Championship.

I haven't made up my mind whether the Chargers will be my pick. But it's a good prediction.

Our chances are better than most. NE, Jax, Indy are the top in my book.

    Dallas in the NFC.

Man, I am so pumped up about this season. Barring any major injuries the Super Bowl should be ours. I feel the Chargers really grew as a team last year.

IF some team like the titans last year doesn't get paid off to cripple our best players the chargers should win the championship this year. Don't know who paid off or set up the titans to take out so many of our good players. But it did happen. Of course the nfl heircy looked the other way. And are now trying to hide under the carpet the pats cheating the last couple of years. Fracking heircy of the nfl. Bunch of rich old ego maniac farts that will stop at nothing to get the outcome they want.

Some sort of leg fracture. Questionable whether he'll be ready in September.

At least we won't face the Tits until the playoffs if we play them. They were real dirty last season with cheap shots and all but they didn't beat us. They just beat us up. When this team is healthy and at full strength, nobody can stop us. That includes the Bellicheat and his video camera!

Remeber, Norv's offense builds upon itself. We will see new things this year as Norv starts using everything!:abq2:

The Minnesota Vikings are nothing to be laughed at about going to the Super Bowl with Taravis Jackson. The Vikings Defense will be one of the most dominant Defenses in the NFL this coming season. The Vikings will as well have a 2nd year Super Star in Adrian Peterson to run with.

It is better now, but it sucked *** when TJ Simers was the Chargers beat writer for them many years ago. Wrote a few letters to the editor on why they have someone who despises the chargers so much is writing for the team page.

Just as long as they don't put them on the cover of Sports Illustrated. The Patsies, Dolts, Jags, the Tits and us are the ranking candidates for the big dance. SI better not screw us up with a cover.

    I'm not convinced.

Tavaris Jackson, for one, is going to have to carry that team once the league starts loading up against AP, who is no longer a surprise back (and may prove injury-prone if he doesn't tone down his risky running style). Jared Allen helps... but "one of the most dominant" defenses? I think they'll be good, but I wouldn't go that far.

The Vikes remind me of the '06 Chiefs, and I expect them to perform similarly - make the playoffs, then get bounced in the Wild Card. I wouldn't even expect that if AP got hurt early.

It may not even be Tavares Jackson. John David Booty could be the starter.

Prophetic words Cranberry. Let's all hope the Chargers stay healthy this year.

They have as good a chance at any of winning it all. :abq2:

I'll put a lot more credence into what The Sporting News says than espn or sports illutrated (especially dr z). The big thing is staying healthier down the stretch this time.

Just got to pound the craap out of the paid head hunting teams like the titans and we should stay healthy.
