To add insult to injury, the team is not exactly gaining any supporters with their play. Lot of bandwagon fans will just say, eh.

We might not have a team after 2019.

"The Chargers, who have a contract with the city of San Diego to play at Qualcomm Stadium through the 2019 season"

I thought the agreement was that the Chargers will play at Qualcomm at least till the end of 2008.

It will happen sooner then that. They already have their "Get out of SD" card in hand.

If no ballot measure makes it, the team will start shopping with other cities not in SD County.

Yep. They can buy out the remaining years of the lease if they choose to leave. Every year after 2008, the amount of the buy out gets smaller.

If a stadium initiative gets put on the ballot, and doesn't pass, my bet is the Chargers leave NO LATER THAN two seasons after a failed vote.

Aguirre faces re-election in June, we must get this a-hole out of the way. Does that give us enough time to get Mission Valley on the November '08 ballot? What about a special election in '09?

It's going to be Mission Valley or (cough, cough) Anaheim.

I've got a two word answer for you. I'll spot you the "F."

    uck you!

    The Alamo Dome? Puuulease.

Why would anyone consider that God forsaken ****-hole for a NFL team? Granted the river walk is kinda cool (for about 10 minutes) but the rest of that cowtown sucks. The bugs there are the size of birds. It's either too ****ing hot or too ****ing cold. The women there are beat and they don't even know it.

You are spot on. It looks more and more that forces in SD will not allow a stadium to be built there and the City of Anaheim is looking to build a stadium next to Angels field and has even had talks with the NFL about a team there.

Look for Spanos to move the Chargers there if no deal is reached in SD county soon. HE can move the team after the 2008 season.

Also, look for the team to be called the LA Chargers even though it would be located in Anaheim a la the LA Angels.

South Texas women fucqing ROCK ! Ever seen Eva Longoria?

The Alamo Dome would just be used until a new stadium is built. Believe me, if a team said they would come to San Antonio, the locals will vote YES in a heartbeat for construction of a new facility.

By the way .... dumb ***. "Cowtown" is Fort Worth, TX.

We will welcome them behind the Orange Curtain... :icon_toast:

It's truly amazing that the municipalities in San Diego County can't see the forest for the trees.

Neither do I but it is getting bleak.

National City out, Oceanside out. Chula Vista-72% of citizens don't want a new stadium. Mission Valley a mess because of the city council.

Spanos will eventually cut his losses and move to greener pastures. The NFL wants a team in the LA area.

True but, the NFL doesn't want that team(s) to be the Chargers but, time is running out. Come on San Diego get your **** together.

Now that I've seen that 72% against, I feel like we will lose the Chargers. I'm not sure if the majority of the voters here will vote for another stadium like they did for the Padres. Spanos will move them somewhere else and rename them after two years, just like what happened to the Oilers.

You guys can count on enjoying at least 10 more home games next year and then it could be all over so enjoy the time left. It is now or never.

Gawd, after reading some responses by posters under that article, there are some ignorant phucks living in SD. No wonder the Aguirre types continue to get elected.

Read up on the Crossroads organization.

    http://www.crossroads2.org/about_crossroads2.htm

Both proposed locations will greatly affect what the Crossroads consider their "strengths". The biggest concern about Chula Vista isn't their citizens but the financial turmoil the city is going through. They grossly overestimated revenue generated by their new mall and the hundreds of foreclosures happening in east Chula Vista is hurting them so much so that they are having to dip into their cash reserves and contemplating hundreds of layoffs.

A new stadium in Chula Vista will have to come from private investors/fundings not only to pay for the stadium itself but for the infrastructure as well or you can kiss these plans good bye!!!

One other possible last gasp of hope...

As I recall, Mayor Sanders said that if putting a new stadium in San Diego County fails... he is willing to meet up with the Chargers again and see if they can work out a plan in the city.

I don't know how viable this is but let's just hope for the best!!!

I have as much confidence in the City of San Diego coming together to "work out a plan" as I do in Ted Cotrell's defensive scheme!!!
