I can't even imagine the amount of picks and players we'd have to give up. Plus he'd be expecting a huge contract.

    Not gonna happen

There's a lot of talk that the Jets are somewhat bent over a barrel with Revis. Simply put, his got a monstrous cap number, they're way over the cap, and they're going to lose him in 2014 anyway. On top of that, he's coming off of a knee injury. If he gets traded, I'd bet it's for a single 1st, or a 2nd/3rd.

His 2013 salary is incredibly affordable relative to is talent (particularly when held alongside say... Mark Sanchez) - it's only $6 million. The issue is that 1) He can't really be cut or trades for cap relief this season because because they'prorated his bonus monies from the new extension he's gotten seemingly every other year to the point where the dead-money cap hit would make that prohibitive. And 2) Revis, himself, is able to opt for unrestricted free agency in 2014 and his current contract (like Asomugha's final contract with the Raiders) prohibits the Jets from using the franchise tender on him (which makes sense because the tag is not the average of the Top 5 salaries by position for that individual year and Revis was the market standard - so the franchise tender would actually be a pay-cut for him on average annual earnings). Revis has said he doesn't want to leave the Jets, and what this sounds like is that their owner Woody Johnson is fishing for a Hershel Walker type situation so that he gets to have his cake and eat it too (i.e. be able to rebuild his team and not have to spend the 2-3 seasons necessary to do a proper job).

The thing is, as great as Revis is, he's coming off a knee injury (only an ACL and modern medicine has come along way, but returning from injury is still returning from injury). Revis is known to not only command top dollar at his position but top dollar on defense period (~$15 million/yr) and is also prone to trying to hold out demanding a new contract whenever he's not among the top paid defensive players (he has the same bastard agent that VJax had/has). I just don't see anyone - best at their position in the league or not - returning Hershel Walker value in this league anymore aside from a young(er) franchise-caliber QB or a still-young premier pass-rusher.

You forgot Adrian Peterson. He's damaged goods now that he's suffered that knee injury; we should be able to get him at a discount. :roflmao:

Every elite player is only one injury away from being an also-ran...... that's why quality depth is so important (thanks, AJ). It's never wise to put all your eggs in one basket.

I'd give them our 2nd, nothing more. Pending an evaluation on the ACL.

SI's Peter King gets the sense executive VP John Elway will try hard to convince Broncos owner Pat Bowlen that Darrelle Revis is the missing piece in Denver.
The Broncos currently have plenty of cap room, but with LT Ryan Clady still needing a new deal some of that will obviously evaporate. Still, it's not hard for teams to work around this issue. As we saw in the Divisional Round loss to the Ravens, Champ Bailey just can't hang with the deep speed threats at receiver anymore. Adding Revis to handle the opposing team's No. 1 receiver and taking some pressure off Bailey would be a nice upgrade. What Elway wants, Elway usually gets. A first- and second-round pick is said to be the Jets' asking price. King mentions the Chiefs and 49ers as other possible Revis suitors. This is pure speculation at this point.

He's probably right, too. The Donks having the top CB in the league to couple with their pass-rush would probably make for a monster of a defense.

Appearing on ESPN Radio Tuesday morning, Adam Schefter suggested the Jets trade Darrelle Revis for Alex Smith and a second-round pick.
Schefter was just spitballing with Mike and Mike, not reporting. The Jets desperately need quarterback help, Alex Smith is on the block and everyone would be interested in a healthy Revis. The ultra-deep Niners are even in a position to take a one-year flier on Revis, who is due just $6 million in 2013 -- the final year of his contract.

This actually makes too much sense therefore I don't see The Jets making this trade
