Sounds like this Karr guy may have been taunting police in the same manner BTK did.

Wonder if there was any other connection to he and the Ramsey family and if there were any similar crimes in the Boulder and surrounding areas during that time.

Reportedly his DNA matches the DNA found in JonBenet's fingernails, on her underware, and on the floor of her bedroom.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

    Good question.

I believe he was being investigated on sex charges in Thailand... I was kind of wondering if the DNA wasn't done there... and the comparison done to the evidence left at JB's murder scene. :icon_shrug:

Edit: 11:40 pm. OK, now it appears there are no sex charges for Karr in Thailand. It appears that Karr was investigated by the Thai LE at the request of the US.

    OK, one last article... :icon_wink:

    http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=local&id=4468925

Karr was arrested in 2001 at school on charges of possessing child porn... He did serve some time. How was this guy able to teach children after this??? :icon_eek:

Karr's ex is interviewed. She states they were living in Alabama during the Christmas season of 96 and that Karr was with her the whole time.

So, say wife is correct/truthful and Karr was in Alabama at the time of JonBenet's murder--LE would surely know this... Makes one wonder what they have on this guy....:icon_huh:

    Per recent TV reports.

DNA has not yet been run.

Karr was emailing a CO. professor about the Ramsey case, referencing details. The professer became alarmed and informed LE.

So, if Karr is their guy, great... If he is not their guy, might he know who is?.... Could he have been emailing with the actual killer?

What I want to know is what that American was doing in Thailand.

    Was he teaching there?

On a work assignment for a week or two?

    Or on "special" vacation?

Thailand is known for child prostitution. They get quite a few American males going there looking to have sex with underage boys and girls, especially under the age of 12.

CBS "48 Hours" did an expose' on Thailand's child prostitution trade about a year ago.

The guy just admitted to doing it. He said he was with her when she died and called it an accident.

    Glad he came clean...

How did he know that John's bonus check was $118,000.00? Was it coincidence that he asked for ransom in the exact amount?

He has lived in the south, even GA... I believe the Ramseys lived in GA at one time... I might be chasing a wild hair here.... but am wondering if there is a connection between this guy and the Ramseys or did this guy see JonBenet in one of her pagent films and take a liking to her.... etc.

I'm glad Patsey knew about the impending arrest before she died.

My gut tells me there is more to this... I don't know what we in the public will learn about it (if anything) but I wouldn't be surprised if this case blows wide open. If my gut is leading me correctly, I'll be glad that Patsy is not here to see it. :icon_eek:

Also, Patsy Ramsey's sister says there is a "DNA match"...:icon_shrug: Possibly some Thai sleuth was able to get something for a DNA test. :icon_wink:

You could be right, L. Lots of whackos admit to crimes they didn't commit.

Ok, time for a little sleuthing.

Say, he is the perp.....Wifey could have believed he was at work for a period of time.... when infact he used an assumed name to book a flight and was in Colorado for that period of time. You know how many spouses tell their partner they are at work when they are not... :icon_mrgreen:

I know he was a teacher and teachers usually are off during the Christmas season but he may have had another job during this time frame or been in between teaching jobs--doing something else

He may have been in the Ramsey home, snooping while they were out... This is the only explanation I can come up with for him knowing about the $118,000 bonus check while having no other connection to the Ramseys.

I say they have their man.... Time will tell...

With repsect to Karr's wife. It's hard to remember exactly what your family did during the Christmas of 96... and how much time you were separated on any given day. I sure don't. Karr could have very well been home for Christmas Day, been in family pics etc., but not home on the 26th.

I'm having trouble remembering the time frame of this case... I'll have to go back and do some reading.

By JOCELYN GECKER, Associated Press Writer

BANGKOK, Thailand - The suspect in the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey said he loved the 6-year-old beauty queen "very much" and is "very sorry for what happened."

In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, John Mark Karr said that he contacted JonBenet's mother, Patsy, before she died of cancer in June to express his remorse for the killing.

"I conveyed to her many things, among them that I am so very sorry for what happened to JonBenet," Karr said as U.S. and Thai authorities escorted him from his Bangkok hotel, where he spent over an hour packing his belongings.

Karr said it was his understanding that Patsy Ramsey read letters that he sent to her. He said JonBenet's death was "an accident."

"It's very important for me that everyone knows that I love her very much and that her death was unintentional," said Karr, who sweated and stuttered occasionally as he spoke in a quiet voice.

Karr, 41, was arrested Wednesday, halfway around the world from Boulder, Colo., where JonBenet's body was found beaten and strangled in her parent's basement on Dec. 26, 1996.

He declined to disclose the nature of his supposed relationship to the Ramsey family, or how he may have known JonBenet.

Asked for details of how she died, Karr replied: "It would take several hours to describe — to describe that."

"There's no way I could be brief about it. It's a very involved series of events," said Karr, who speaks with a thick Southern accent. "It's very painful for me to talk about."

Earlier in the day, Karr spoke briefly to reporters after a news conference by American and Thai authorities.

"I was with JonBenet when she died," he told reporters. Asked if he was innocent, he said: "No."

Karr will be taken within the week to Colorado, where he will face charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and child sexual assault, said Ann Hurst of the Department of Homeland Security, one of several officials who accompanied the suspect back to his hotel.

In the run-up to Karr's arrest, U.S. authorities had rented rooms at The Blooms, the budget hotel where Karr was staying in a central Bangkok neighborhood of massage parlors and travel agencies catering to expatriates and sex tourists.

The hotel offers rooms for as little as three hours — for $8 — and monthly stays starting at $170.

Karr was staying on the top floor of the nine-story hotel in a small single room.

U.S. and Thai authorities wearing plastic gloves sorted through his possessions, which were wheeled away on a luggage rack, and included a laptop computer and two suitcases.

Dressed in a baggy turquoise polo shirt and khaki pants, Karr said that JonBenet's death was "not what it seems to be," though he declined to elaborate.

"In every way," he added, as authorities bundled him into a waiting vehicle. "It's not at all what it seems to be."

Makes you wonder if the ex wife's statements that she was with him at all times on Christmas of 96 are accurate.

This has to be very hard on Karr's family and children and I'm sure Mrs. Karr wants to believe (and probably does) that John was with her all day on 12/25/96.

So, we have him admitting to the crime in Colorado and her saying he was home all day in Alabama..:icon_shrug: They both can't be right.

    Possible explanations:

    1. She could be remembering the wrong year.
    2. She could be "inaccurate"
    3. He could be "inaccurate"
    4. She could be as looney as he appears to be.. Did I just write that? :icon_eek:

    Interesting, nonetheless
