    May...

    June...

    July...

    August...

August 12th, 2007, the Sand Diego Chargers will open the Preseason against their one time divisional rivals the Seattle Seahawks. The Chargers will take the field for the first time sporting the new uniforms that are a combination of old and new. The bolts go from white to gold timed in dark and light blue, the first time we will see the new home blues, lightning bolts high one the shoulders. We will see players fighting for positions.

For many of us it will be the first time that the fans will get to see the new additions to the team in action. Some questions will be answered, others raised. Will Cromartie be able to take the starting position this season, will Weddel make the cut at Strong Safety and start on opening day against the Chicago Bears. Will Craig Davis be able to rip a starting role from the grips of the veteran receivers on the team?

Which Rookie will stand out, which will become a casualty of the Turk. Which undrafted free agents will be the next great AJ Smith find, which one if any will make the roster, which will be practice squad material, which ones will find spots on other teams and which ones will find their dreams of the NFL lost? UDFA players such as WR, Mark Simmons, WR Sean Coffey, OC Nick Mihlhauser, QB Brett Elliott, CB Cletis Gordon, CB Gregory Steve, RB Tyronne Gross, DE Patrick Massey, DT Brandon McKinney, C Nick Mihlhauser , CB Anthony Mims, G Jason Murphy, WR Robert Ortiz, WR Mark Simmons, DT Alvin Smith, RB Bryson Sumlin, FB Shawn Willis, P Brian Monroe, C-G Erik Robertson. Which veterans will be the surprising cuts this season?

Right now as fans this is a frustrating and near infuriating time of the year. We have more questions than we can hope to formulate, and precious few answers. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and in 84 days football will return as the San Diego Chargers make their push to the Superbowl giving us some answers.

Conc, Thumper or whoever can do this...

What about a count-down clock until the first game? Put it somewhere where everyone can see it in the forum.

Good Idea. I believe I can make this happen. I wrote some code to do something similar once. It was for a manufacturing company that wanted to count the number of days since there was an incident. This is almost the same, just subtracting days instead of adding them.

Ok, hope yer happpy. I had to completely write this script from scratch. The one I wrote before was in PHP and only counted days. It would only update if refreshed your screen. Not problem if you're only counting days, but I thought it'd be cool to make this a little more accurate. At first I was only going to make it accurate to the hours until the game, but what's the fun in that?

I had to do it in javascript for this to work, but now it's accurate to countdown until game time (5pm on 8/12/2007) for our first preseason game.

unfortunately this is the least pleasant time of teh year for football fans. Keep your chins up guys. Maybe we can do some "best charger team" or "best position players" ever lists.

    That is silly.

The least pleasant time of the year is before the minicamps and trianing camps. Not during. We have another minicamp comming up on the 8th with training camps soon to follow.

The time from the SB to the draft is the worst time, especially with all the Patriot love going on. At least that is the worst time of the year for me. We are starting on the downward slide to football now!:abq2:

At least during that time you have the draft and even in february you can start talking about FA and the Draft and the Coaching Carousel. What the heck do you talk about now? You can't do anything.

    And there's another mini-camp June 8th? That's one I'm going to

I was originally just going to days, but that seemed pretty boring. Making it down to milliseconds, I felt that you could also see somethign happening. Knowing that the time until our first game is moving along, albeit, not fast enough for many of us.

BTW- The "Hall of Fame" game is about a week before our first game, so it's about a week less than this until our first glimpse of NFL action.

The time clock is great!! It can be used as a count down to all the games, the SB, the draft...... etc.
