    .... first stop. Jacksonville.

San Diego still has a VERY good shot at the #2 seed in the AFC playoffs.

    How?

Assume that New England, San Diego, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis all win their divisions. NE wins the #1 seed, and SD, PITT, and Indy all finish 12-4 (or Indy/Pitt worse than 12-4).

    1. San Diego must win out - run the table - and finish 12-4. We then would have an AFC conference record of 10-2. SD has two AFC losses (KC and NE) and two NFC losses (GB and MINN).

    2. Indy must lose two more games - any games - to also finish 12-4. The first tie-breaker is head to head. We hold that over the Colts. The Colts and Steelers don't play this year, so it can't be a "we beat them, but they beat us" deal that cancels it out. The Colts then drop out of a possible 12-4 three way tie with SD and Pitt.

    3. Pittsburgh must lose two more AFC games. They have lost one AFC game (Denver) and one NFC game (Arizona). Pittsburgh plays the following AFC teams - @ NYJ, MIA, Cincy, @ NE, JAX, @ Bal, and they play one NFC team @ STL. If the Steelers lose two of those AFC games, their conference record will be 9-3. SD beats them on the conference record tiebreaker.

    NFL Tiebreaking Procedures

Lots of the usual mumbo jumbo, but given the situation I laid out, the first tiebreaker used is head to head (eliminates Colts) and the second tiebreaker is conference record (elimimates Steelers).

Bye week. Home field for at least one game, two if someone beats the rat bastage cheating Patriots. All is not doom and gloom, gentlemen (and lovely Bolt ladies). Win in JAX this Sunday and the road to the #2 seed starts.

    Homerism? Maybe.

    Can it happen? Maybe.

I'm getting on board. How about you?

I'm sticking to my 9-7 prediction for this team. Sorry, I just don't wanna be disappointed... I'd rather be surprised. If they go 12-4, please remind me that I didn't believe in this team.

I agree with VAN in that I would rather just play during WC weekend. This team does not have the intestinal fortitude to have a week off to read their own press clippings.

Yep. No more weeks off for these fukkers. Although I do think it finally sunk into their thick skulls that they can't talk their way to wins.

You'd rather play one extra game and have to play on the road to get to the AFC Championship game than get to host one home game for the chance to advance? Sorry, but that makes no sense. I don't care how bad we've been after the bye, getting the #2 seed would not be detrimental to our postseason chances. If we are going to blow it in the playoffs, we will blow it whether we're the #2 or the #4 seed. If we're going to win in the playoffs, we'll do it regardless of seeding.

As much as I would like for that to happen, I think there is a better chance for us to lose a game then Colts to lose 2. Sorry!:icon_shrug:

I disagree with the idea that this team should play straight through...if Castillo comes back as projected (denver game) there's little doubt he could use a week after that.
This Team needs all the practice it can get, because right now, there's no way they compete with NE or the Steelers...and if Indy gets half way healthy, them either.
It would be nice to be the two seed, but based on what we've seen, there's no way. This isn't even a playoff team.
Rivers has to get a game before we can even think about a two seed, and I don't see the mental toughness.
    I just hope I'm wrong.

I had my divisional ticket pinned up @ work but I burned when my season tickets arrived. #2 seed or # 4 seed they still have to be physical and play smart football. I have a feeling we will see NE again. 10-6 and guess who is going to make the Pat fans feel like they been JACKED!!!!:abq2:

Norv Turner is a very good coach if anybody can bring the Chargers back to finish with a 12-4 record he can. Just like when he was in Dallas, nobody could handle his coaching of the offense. Only difference here is the players aren't as good, but Norv can overcome that.

thankyou, norv's mother. Geez. WAke up you old hag. NOrv's got limitations. The chargers have a ton of talent being misused.

NOrv does appear to be smart. So maybe he'll figure out that rIvers per pass play needs more than one main reciever to pass to.

And maybe hint to cottrell to move merriman and phillips all along the line of scrimmage before the snap so opposing o-lines can't set up blocking schemes against them. Get to it you old hag.

If she wasn't she would have said so. I'm sure she can make some good oatmeal cookies. But thats still not gonna help our offense.
