I'm starting to believe the BEEF philosophy.. Once our D-line improves, our whole defense will improve.

When our D-line improves, so will our linebackers, which IMO is a pretty solid group. Stephen Cooper, who led us in tackles, and Brandon Siler, who was 4th in tackles, are solid ILB's. Shaun Phillips , even though I don't like his attitude, is a decent player and had 59 tackles with 7 sacks.
Merriman might not have been fully healed but he was decent at times. I think English can replace Merriman after next year though (they had almost the exact same stats) so trading away Merriman seems like a possibility.
Once our linebackers improve, our DBs will improve. More pressure on the QB means he has to make decisions faster, and those decisions might get sloppy leading to pass deflections or interceptions...

In the end, if we can package Merriman and Sproles for a high-mid 1st, we could possibly grab Brandon Graham, get Mathews at 28, and then draft Cody at pick 40. Then our D-line will be great and our whole defense will improve

A few of us have been screaming for BEEF for the past decade.

One day our prayers will be answered, hopefully that day is coming soon.

I'm always on the BEEF bandwagon. I'll be more than happy if the meatwagon (Cody) is our first pick.

our insightful govna here in Michigan tried to propose a Beef-less day on Sat.

Michigan's 2nd largest Arga crop and she wants people to stop eating it.

    good job.

How about free range grass eating beef? I want less possibilty for E. Coli; beef that I know hasn't been living in its own feces, being fed corn.

We don't have the factory farms here. Not free range, but not like the West

I think a bit of beef on the other line would be a help too. If we could be a big upgrade at RT it might make a real difference too. I'm not real sold on Hardwick at Center, he seems to be a bit small for the position.

THE BATTLE IS WON IN THE TRENCHES

You gotta have the players performing consistently on both sides of the line of Scrimmage if you want to get to the big game!

Despite is age and production leaking a little...having Big Jamal on that defence would have increased our chances of making the Superbowl by about 30%!!

We have a nice rotation of Dlineman but we DESPERATELY NEED a force in the middle! Ian Scott, DG and others just wont do the job.

OLine is not bad...they just need to live upto their potential and stay injury free. We need to increase the quality of depth...thats all.

The only question mark would be at RT/RG. I hope that Vasqeuz and Clary step up!

everything starts up front on both sides of the ball, if you can get pressure without using your linebackers it makes it that much easier. if you can open up holes, you have opportunities and if you protect our $100 mill man then you give way for the deep ball and for things to develop. of COURSE!

U guys seem to love beef so much why don't we just draft some of these guys to be on our lines. Then after we win the superbowl they can double as a delicious dinner!

To me, Vasquez was getting better and better, week after week. Towards the end of the season he was doing really well. Keep in mind that it was also his rookie season. Next year he will be even better and, to me, he probably has the most potential on our line other than McNeil

I sure hope if the Bolt's don't draft any new beef, the cows we have now can be prodded into playing a bit better. I'd also really love to see that hammer in the defensive backfield, I sure did miss Rodney. Nothing better than a safety willing to take the flag and fine to get one good lick in, I love it and bring it on.:icon_toast:

    Word.

And as I've been saying for years. As Jamal Williams goes, so goes our defense. Spin the chamber enough times and eventually there will be a bullet in it.

Jamal is gone. His replacement(s) are long past due.
