Shocked to see the Chargers at number 1? Don’t be. By beating Denver on the road Sunday night, the Chargers took the lead in the AFC West and solidified themselves as both the hottest and most dangerous team in the NFL. Coming into the game, pundits gave Marty Schottenheimer as much of a chance to beat the Broncos in Denver as Stan Marsh had in leading the Park County youth hockey team on "South Park" past the Detroit Red Wings. Alas, with consecutive second half comebacks from 17 points or more, the ‘Bolts are simmering entering their Week 12 battle with Oakland . LaDainian Tomlinson’s scored 11 touchdowns over the past three weeks; 19 in his last six. He’s not going to break the NFL single season touchdown record; he’s going to obliterate it.

Puta madre the slobbering has started right on cue  :bolt:

While I dig the props, I enjoy being the underdog to shut up the doubters but then again being BILLY BIG BALLS works just as well. :icon_mrgreen:

:bolt: Super, isn't it? Bolts play such an exploding offense.
But it's dangerous too, every other team - even 2-8 Oakies -
want to **** an No.1 team down. Be careful about injuries now !

This is a good time for LT to pad his stats !!!! He needs 6 TD's to tie and 7 to break the all time mark of 28 TD's.

Too many records are being set and shattered and the evolution of the "Chosen One" all being a sign from the Lombardi gods that the time is now !!!

    This is "IT" :bolt:

On the team's bus ride from Ontario (because San Diego was fogged in) someone yelled "the Raiders are coming" which implies the Denver game is history. I enjoyed reading that little blurb as it spoke volumes to me where the mindset is focused.

Folks, The HYPE has just begun

If we go deep into the playoffs, perhaps SB, there

will be tons of bandwagon fans and shouters around the team.

LT PR and company will have to deal with it.

And all the longtime deepboltfans - who are and will ever be -

will take a big breath and remember this great time for all of our life.

    Here it is:

    http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2006/11/21/sports/professional/chargers/23_33_1311_20_06.txt

"This is a unique team in my mind in the way we handle situations and the way we handle adversity," Rivers said. "We've got a good group of guys, a lot of veterans who are very key to our success in that aspect.

"It won't happen. People on the bus last night were already talking about Oakland. We were excited (about the win in Denver) and then you'd hear somebody say, 'Get ready for Oakland.' We've got the right mind-set."

What a difference winning in Denver makes. Here's another #1 Ranking from RealFootball365.com

1.) San Diego Chargers (3; 8-2) - When Shawne Merriman returns, the Bolts' defensive dominance will come back with the pass-rushing linebacker. Add that to an offense that includes one of the five best running backs ever (LaDainian Tomlinson), an elite quarterback (Philip Rivers) and arguably the league's top tight end (Antonio Gates). These guys are scary good.

Fans need to keep things in perspective and even though we beat Denver in Denver, we surrendered 27 points and then prior 41 points etc etc .....

We need better back ups and have relied on the offense to score an ungodly amount of points to stay or get back into a game.

Oh - our back-ups and quality of depth should start on the defensive line.

This is small **** compared to other teams who need a complete douche in comparison but if we want to be considered elite for a while and not a flash in the pan - then we need to commit to quality fat boys. This is where we win or lose the whole enchilada.

Its injuries to Castillo and Merriman and Phillips
Lack of pass rush means lack of ability to coverage which means more people back to cover hte pass which means its easier for OLs to get a push. We're giving up that many points but when we do get Castillo and Merriman abck and phillips recovers, we will be just fine.

l'm being a real puzz, but I'll admit I did like being the underdog. Much better place to be in if you ask me.

    No it is not injuries.

It is lack of quality back ups.

The same holds true for the O-line but now to a lesser degree that we have a healthy Oben as a QUALITY back up.

Lack of pass rush means lack of stepping up by those who should be doing so.

I think we need to give props to our backups especially the defense. We have guys playing both special teams (fire Crosby) as well as defense. I know it hasn't been pretty at times but these guys have made plays in the second half when we needed them. That said I do get nervous if we need to rely on our defense right now but then again D-Flo's INT was huge and like everybody else my whole neighborhood heard me when he made that play. The experience that our depth players are getting right now will be invaluable later on.
