Leo its nice you being the eternal optimist and all but even if the Chargers were to make the playoffs they would go no where. You can't fix what you don't have.!!!!

How did we get to this? From 2006 to this?

Pathetic. Not you Leo, the team.

What's nice is when you reach the point of not really caring so much. It makes watching yesterday's clown show so much easier. This is a bad football team... again.

Concur, I would prefer not to have to root for the duh's in Week 17!

As for the Chargers, we won't be mathematically eliminated unless we lose 1 of our next 2 games.

This is what happens when you don't take care of your business in the first half of the season, you beg and plead that other teams will cooperate instead of just focusing on what you can do.

Maybe the Chargers need to learn this lesson now

All we can do is to pull for the Chargers to win both remaining games and hope somebody beats KC...any other result and break out the draft guides for 2011. I will continue to be optimistic. Win or lose, I hope the players and coaches with have their stuff together when next season starts so we don't have to go through this mess again.

I don't think this is correct.

If the Chargers end up 9-7 and the Chiefs drop two games and end up 9-7, Chargers win the division.

I really wish people would quit pretending the 2006 team was any better than what we've seen the last 4 years...

The odds of the Chiefs losing both their remains games, especially since they will both be played at Arrowhead, is unlikely at best.

Even if we don't lose either of our remaining games, we still may not make the polstseason but I am utterly convinced that if we lose just 1 more game, we are totally done!

You're discussing odds here and not mathematical elimination.

Okay, let's talk "mathematical elimination"....if we drop 1 more game and win the other to finish 9-7, and the Chiefs drop both their remaining games as well, their final loss would be to Oakland and if we all ended up tied with identical 9-7 records, and the Raiders would win the AFC West by virture of their perfect 6-0 divisional record, and both us & the Chiefs would be mathematically eliminated....

Stick a fork in them, their done. It's over and I'm not going to waste my time rooting for other teams or hoping for miracles to happen. This team let the fans and themselves down, it's on the players.

It's on the TEAM, top to bottom.

And I agree with the sentiment - true champions take care of their own business.

Since when is another team losing one game a "miracle"?

Some of you all are acting like it's 2008 all over again and we need the Broncos to lose 3 straight games.

For crying out loud, we only need one loss from KC. It's not like that's unheard of.

    Bunch of quitters.

So, were the Steelers not "true champions" when they needed help to get into the playoffs in 2005 sitting at 7-5 at one point in the season, barely sneaking in as the 6th seed?

Ideally I want the Chargers to control their own fate from week 1 on. I don't think there's a single Chargers fan who does not want that. But that's not how the season always goes.

Unless your team finishes 13-3 or better every year they're always going to need some other games to go their way along the ride. But all that matters is where they finish at season's end. All this "they don't deserve it" crap is a bunch of hogwash.

If they handle their business the next two games and finish 10-6 but still miss the playoffs then they only have themselves to blame for losing the games early on. I'm not going to be dumb and pretend it'd be someone else's fault in that scenario.

But in the meantime, there's still games to be played and the Chargers still have a more than realistic chance at the playoffs. I only hope that the Chargers players and coaches aren't giving up on the season because they think it'd take a Christmas miracle for another team to lose one game to get them in like some of the fans here are.

Stop putting words in my mouth, Leo. You know EXACTLY what I mean. This team isn't tough enough to win a championship. A team like the Steelers - hell, even the RAIDERS, owns our *** when it comes time to play a really physical game.

I know that you like to have the last word & all that. Good for you. My feelings won't be changed by you or your inane BS arguments. I never said anything about who "deserves" to go. That was an argument that I didn't have a dog in. I said what I mean - this TEAM is not tough enough to win a championship or else they would have taken care of business against the weak-*** detritus that composed our early schedule.

There's no quit here - just a little reality. You don't like that, too bad.
