THE Crocodile Man, Steve Irwin, is dead.

He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said.

It is understood he was killed by a sting-ray barb that went through his chest.

He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary and that's when it occured.

Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas.

It is understood Mr Irwin was killed around midday, Eastern Australian time.

It is understood he was killed instantly.

A source said Mr Irwin was already dead when his body was brought onto the Isle.

A source said Mr Irwin's body was being airlifted to Cairns Hospital in North Queensland for formal identification.

Of all of the dangerous animals that guy has handled he gets killed by a stingray barb.

    That is crappy luck.

I feel sorry for his family.

Yeah, i just heard about this. The guy was an idiot to put his little baby in danger. But I feel bad that that same kid no longer has a dad. :icon_sad:

    That Alligator guy

This shocked the **** outta me. :icon_sad: He was just so full of life. Sometimes I think he firmly believed he would never die.

I feel and pray for his wife and children. The world is alot less colorful and quieter without Steve...

    That Alligator guy

He was one of those rare special enthusiastic genuine people imo..he seemed like a great dad and husband with lots of love for life and his family...I really do think he thought he was invincible....sadly, he wasn't. :icon_sad: He had a big heart and touched the lives of millions of kids...and adults.
