The time has come once again for the annual ranking of the San Diego Chargers’ ten most important players. When this tradition began four years ago, it was a challenge to come up with ten players worthy of any sort of distinction. Now, it is almost impossible to trim the list without doing an injustice to several deserving players.

    1. LaDainian Tomlinson – Not only is Tomlinson the best player on the Chargers, he may be the best player in the league. Even with all of his record-breaking numbers in 2006, the most impressive stat is that he lost just one fumble in 404 touches.

    2. Antonio Gates – Despite scoring single-digit touchdowns for the first time since his rookie season, Gates had another great year in 2006, leading the team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He dominates between the hashes and routinely rips passes away from defenders.

    4. Merriman
    5. Castillo
    6. McNeil
    7. Rivers

I have to put Merriman at #3. The rest can slot as is, but the guy who might have broken the sack record has to be the number one defensive guy. He is my odds end choice for MVP this year, unless LT goes berserk again or Rivers does.

    Time for Sunday bubbly.

    I concur with your 1-7 but I'd then go for;

    8. The WR that really steps up = VJ, Malcom or even Craig
    9. Lo
    10. Dielman

Rivers should be at least in the top three or four.....no way he is #7 just ahead of DJ........i mean DJ at #8? :icon_eek:

The most important possition in football and he is #7 after a probowl year?

Actually id put him at #2 because even tho Jamal is very important, we will have a hard time scoring without Rivers. He was clutch last year like the winning throw in Seattle and in Cinci...Volek wont do that and certainly not Charlie.

    My top 10:
    1. LT
    2. Jamal
    3. Rivers
    4. Gates
    5. Merriman
    6. McNeil
    7. Castillo
    8. Jammer
    9. The other guy
    10. Dielman

10 spot was kind of hard, I had it between LoNeal and Dielman, could of been either guy really.

    VJ would of been #12.

That question ist 100% correct. Next season the Wide receivers will have to show up or it's Gates numbers alone.

Lorenzo Neal has to get at least an honorable mention.

    1a. LT - duh
1b. Lo - I put him here because he leads the way for Mr. 1a
    2. Jamal - The "soul" of the D, the motor
    3. Philip - Charged w/ running the highest powered O in the league
    4. Shawne - The "attitude" of the D, the fuel
    5. Big Mac - Protects the General's rear end
    6. McCree - The QB of the DB's
    7. Gates - #2 best option on O behind MR. 1a
    8. Kassim - the entire unit feeds on his relentlessness on ST
    9. Nate - w/out a consistent K we wouldn't be so automatic inside the 35
    10. Luis - taking on 2 guys to free up Shawne or Shaun

Yeah, I dont see how Gates is top 5 with all the talent we have on this team. His production is solid but we need to get him the ball more.

    Exactly my question.

It has to be looked at I guess as who has to be the most important for this season to be successful.

My prediction is Floyd ends up with more yards and TDs than Jackson.
