    By Ross Warner

It's Divisional Playoff Weekend--what does that mean if you are among The Legion Of The Lightning Bolt? Not a hell of a lot, unfortunately.

After seeing Carson Palmer wriggle on the turf last weekend, you have to wonder if it's worse to get into the postseason and suffer a blow like that. But the reality, FAITHFUL READER, is that it's better to have made it even if it ends tragically. It's a tough time to be a Charger fan, that's for sure. There is talk again about the Bolts moving out of San Diego. James Lofton is being interviewed by the Traitors. Marty Schottenheimer, of course, is being interviewed by nobody.

I took some crap last week for agreeing with Boomer Esiason's comments that Marty should be held accountable for the season. Hey kids, in case you haven't noticed, I've had issues with Marty since Day One. Boomer, in his capacity as CBS commentator, website contributor and host of his own show on MSG Network, is kind of a putz. In other words, he tries to stir things up just to bring attention to himself and to compensate for the fact that he doesn't have the clout of his doppelganger, Phil Simms. This time, however, I happen to agree that Marty shouldn't get a free pass for this season's disappointments.

But have no fear, Marty fans. I don't think he's going anywhere. I firmly believe that A.J. would jettison him sooner than later, but it would take another postseason-less campaign next year to doom his fate. I'm not going to root for that to happen, that's for sure.

Drew Brees claims that The Organization has contacted him about a long-term deal. I don't know if his injury had any impact on the Chargers' position. Even if Smith is still planning on dealing one of his quarterbacks, he sure ain't sayin'.

Watching the Bengals/Steelers game on Sunday probably just made the prospect of making a deal even more frightening. But there's no question that the team needs to be shored up in a few areas. The offensive line needs some work and the secondary has some issues. Yes, Quentin Jammer was our best cornerback this season. No, that is not a reflection of his progress but instead indicative on how poorly the pass defense was. I have no idea what his qualifications playing safety are. I know that he can't cover or catch and that hitting is the only thing he seems to be able to do.

This week I did get a nice note via the JUSTICE IS COMING mailbag:

I just found your site via a Google search, after i spent 2 hours last nite trying to locate a #91 Merriman (i saw it online for $24.95 3 weeks ago & didn't pull the trigger)

The site is a great idea for an outlet for the syndrome that is the young kid who found the NFL through "Air Coryell" l while living in the NY/Metropolitan area. How many others share this condition -- 5? 50? 100?

I finally got my LT & Chargers helmet Fatheads cutouts up -- very strong

    Keep up the good work,

    Norm Levine

Norm, I don't exactly how many of us there are over here. I've probably had a beer with most of them. I know that the only thing we can do this weekend is root against Denver. It was nice to see Jughead throw 3 picks last Sunday. But rooting against is not as fulfilling as rooting for. We still have had 9 of 10 seasons without a playoff berth. Hopefully, that will change. I respect your puchasing of those "Fatheads" things I see the commercials for with Chad Johnson. I guess he'll have plenty of time to polish his gold teeth now. The Merriman #91 is a nice call. I just pulled the trigger on a T-shirt with the Bolts helmet and the words "Everyone Else Sucks." What else is a Charger fan supposed to do these days?
