Going into the Chargers' season opener Monday at Oakland, two storylines rose to prominence."  One, Philip Rivers making his first career start on national television against the team's archrival and two, LaDainian Tomlinson's continual ability throughout his career to terrorize that archrival.

Rivers gladly took a backseat to Tomlinson as well as a dominating defense that delivered nine sacks and pitched a 27-0 shutout."  The third-year pro threw the ball just 11 times and had the best seat in the house for L.T.'s sixth-career 100-yard game against Oakland as the Chargers cruised to the Bolts' sixth consecutive victory over Oakland.</blockquote>
