AJ Smith has been absolutely phenomenal for us in the draft picks.
IMO, the Eli deal will go down as one of the best draft moves ever.
He’s also been phenomenal at getting our great players signed long term.
So glad we’ll have LT, Phillips, Gates (just to name a few) into the next decade!!!
He’s made some great free agent moves too.
McCardell was phenomenal and I hope to see Chambers get going soon.
That’s what makes him a great GM!!!!

    Now the problem.
We all know that AJ Smith and Marty Schottenheimer had a rocky relationship.
Did Schottenheimer have a rocky relationship with John Butler (Bless His Heart)?
Schottenheimer and Butler seemed to be on the same page.
They knew it was going to be a long and hard process to turn this franchise around.
If they got into any disputes, they must have been very minor.
They sure as Hell didn’t make media headlines!!

AJ’s job is to bring in the talent.
The coach’s job is to get the talent winning!!!!

Now before some of you have a cow... I know that only Dean Spanos can fire and hire (meaning that only Dean can give somebody the pink slip or bring them onto the payroll) BUT AJ IS PAID TO MAKE THOSE DECISIONS AND DEAN RELIES ON HIM TO MAKE THE RIGHT ONES!!!

What this season has shown me...
    Why did AJ want Norv?
Because he knew he could push him around.
Some of you posted in the beginning about “having a yes man for a coach!!”
Why do you think AJ chose his assistant coaches for him?!!!

What I hope to see from Dean...
I hope to see Dean take charge in the off season!!!
Dean, YOU CHOOSE THE NEXT HEAD COACH!!!
Because AJ will just look for another sap that he can push around!!
    Dean, PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN!!!
AJ WILL get along with our next head coach or he will be fired!!
The next head coach WILL choose his own assistants!!!
And AJ WILL respect his decisions!!!

Dean, KEEP PUNCHING AJ TILL YOU BREAK HIS FUKING EOG!!!
Right now, we are in danger of seeing possibly the most promising era in Chargers history fall apart!!!
Not to mention, this promising era could play an extremely important part in keeping the Chargers in San Diego!!!
Dean, STEP UP AND REMIND AJ WHO THE BOSS IS!!!

Can we just get a merge of all B4Life's "Norv Sucks" threads into one mega-thread?

Will the rest of the "Norv Sucks" threads go there too?
Why not? There's plenty of new ones posted by others.

What about those of mine that are not mentioning Norv sucking but about the whole front office doing a bad job?

EVERYTHING stated in this thread is the absolute truth!!!
I'm NOT going to applaud a lousy job!!!
If things were going right, this thread wouldn't exist.

As for all the "BOLTS4LIFE Bashing"... I'm also not going let posters like you discredit EVERYTHING I post just because you can't admit you were wrong from the start!!!
You want to dictate EVERYTHING I post because I WAS RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING!!!
I DON'T LIKE IT BUT THAT'S THE WAY IT IS!!!!
I don't tell you what you should and shouldn't post!!!!

As for you and the other clowns that can't say anything to me without personal attacks and starting fights... GET A HOTEL!
    I'LL PAY FOR THE ROOM!!!

According to you it's the truth

No one should applaud a lousy job, but your making assumptions that AJ wanted a "yes man" no actual proof

Bolts, I've been saying this for weeks now. Nice post BTW. I've reiterated that DEAN be a real President and Owner and get us the RIGHT coach. Be it Urban, BC or Carroll. Then let the COACH pick their coordinators and let AJ and Mix run the draft and FA. Dean HAS to draw distinct lines in this organization and not let AJ dictate the direction of this team. Maybe AJ went with Norv knowing Dean wanted him and figured he would fvck up. Then he would pick the coach he really wanted, I don't know (conspiracy theory). But yes, agree with everything you posted.

    Thanks LT21.

It's good to see that there are other posters in here that aren't just sticking their fingers in their ears, closing their eyes and screaming "Marty wouldn't have got us a Super Bowl title. Marty wouldn't have got us a Super Bowl title. Marty wouldn't have got us a Super Bowl title."

i am not sure how you can conclude that AJ doesn't know he made a mistake and won't fix in the post season.

He thought through working with Norv in the past, his success in SF, and with the Cowboys, and his familiarity with the system that he would make a great HC. And you can disagree with him, and even point to this season as proof... but that doesn't mean if we miss the playoffs, or this team countinues to under perform he's going to stick with Norv to the downfall of the team.

At this point, he can do nothing but support the Head Coach, no matter who he is, or how poorly he performing. To do so would COMPLETELY undermine Norv, and take away any control or respect he holds on the players or assistant coaches.

The minute people feel like the season is a wash and give up, it's the minute our season is over. And to do that, especially when we are tied for 1st (deservingly or not), would be more egotistical and self-destructive than anything we are doing now.

So we really have no idea what AJ is thinking, or what he plans to do, all we know as long as we have a shot at the playoffs, the only thing we'll hear from the front office support for Norv.

And to be honest, there's a lot of football left, and I think people are greatly underestimating the effects of a new coach has on a franchise. Look at the 49ers and Saints, all had hot seasons last year, now with a tougher season niether coaches are looking like the protical son.

So your points are mute, and either troll bait or completely nieve. That's why people get frustrated with your posts over and over again.

He choose 1, not the whole staff!!

Did it EVER occur in that mind of yours that AJ REALLY wanted Rex Ryan, but he knew he had a young team that just learned the system they were in. They were VERY good and close to the Super Bowl. So AJ wanted to keep the same play book?

He has a young QB in Rivers and didn't want Rivers having to relearn new lingo and reads especially when Rivers was hurt in the off-season and couldn't really practice? So AJ thought it might be best at this time to keep everything the same?

We are talking about a team that has a ton of second to third year starters on it. Not a team comprised of veterans who would be able to pick up on a new playbook with no problems because they have been around.

NO not in B4L's mind, instead of actually thinking for yourself you like to take the obvious road and post NORV SUCKS!!!, AJ's ego etc.

Continue to post your drivel and prove to everyone that you can't look past the obvious and ask yourself what is really going on here?

Now have a good day

During the hiring process, I made it crystal clear that I didn't want Norv. The post below is typical of my takes.

    From Chargers.com forum....

Just say NO to Norv .....

The majority of this forum did not want Norv Turner as head coach.

Your spin is tiresome, repetitive, and friggin' boring. You've become a one trick pony consumed with a solitary issue. We all are pissed at the play of the Chargers. We're all wanting more effort from the players with smarter decisions by the coaches.

I asked you nicely to get off this kick a couple weeks ago. Have fun in Ignoreland. Bye.

This is why people don't waste their time responding well thought out posts. If you read the rest of my post you wouldn't have typed what you did.

I explained in clear easy to understand english WHY Rex Ryan isn't the coach...

And I made it crystal clear that Marty shouldn't have been fired to begin with.

Unless he gets us to the Super Bowl and wins... let him walk and see who's available in 2008.

As for this "Ignorland"... feel free.
    Think I'll miss you?!!!
