You know....Cory Dillon....Randy Moss...Rodney Harrison....Junior Seau....Tedy Bruschi....Mike Vrable...Rosevelt Colvin...Sammy Morris...Troy Brown...and on and on over the last several years.....funny how they seem to have no problem managing the cap even with some HUGE salaries on their roster (Brady, Moss, Welker, Maroney...) by working WITH players...restructuring salaries....but keeping a core group of smart vets who know how to win

.....yet our GM is such a f'n GENIUS that he wants to dump players off....and avoid agents of superstars rather than face an ego conflict...so he can concentrate on bigtime players like Jyles Tucker while essentially spitting in the face of a Shawne Merriman.....He is such a mastermind that he has managed to take a YOUNG 14-2 team and turn in into a (barely) 11-5 team and (barely) 8-8 team......with a LOT of blind luck along the way.....and will go to the end of the earth to defend a coach who is barely treading water and was previously the Raiders' TRASH.....while treating the franchise's greatest ever player like a POS. Pretty soon AJ will be Al Davis....They have the same ego

All the Patriots have managed to do in this time is win 3 superbowls (nearly fooled)....I guess we've got them fooled with our pretend dynasty that went from promising to backing into the playoffs and never even sniffing the big dance.

We could easily be 14-2 again, all we'd need to do is replicate 2006, as in have an easy schedule and have LT go gangbusters and break every single record.

I swear every time you guys say we were 14-2 team it's like you guys were expecting to match that or better it every year, but unless you're expecting LT to bust out 30 tds a year then why would you think we would replicate that? This team is more like the 2004, 2005 teams (12-4, 9-7).

You wouldn't expect LT to repeat a 30 td season every year after that but for some reason you expect the team to win 14 game or more after that.

It'd be entirely different if our players were playing around their norms but we didn't have that.

Not at all. I get what AJ said and agree that what matters is where you finish. Last season, it was justified. This season, it was not.
We have a ****** division to thank for making the playoffs. Nothing else.

Well...we were 9-7 in 2005 when we didn't make the playoffs...and that was better than last year...so we should have an "easy" schedule next year.......and according to half the posters on this board...Rivers' 34 TD's this year was more impressive anyway given that it was also a franchise record.....so by that logic we should be kicking *** again next year.....somehow I don't feel that confident with no LT and Turkey Neck deer in the headlights Norv still runing the show.

Exactly....That and LT's speech after the Atlanta game when this bunch of primma donna's was ready to give up.....

Rivers didn't talk to the team and rally the troops.....Norv can barely talk at press conferences and certainly didn't inspire anyone......LT did....and the players all acknowledge it.

You dump LT...You cut out half of the heart left in this team. The other half is Merriman...and AJ will be shipping him out next year.

Last year's success was LT, NOT NORV!!!

The lipstick on the pig we saw this season was LT too!!!

I don't know if anyone saw it on NFL network but Norv's offense was described as a finesse offense since marty left. Are we? Are we going to be allowed to be this offense and can this type of offense and win the SB.?

So then... LT was also to blame for the 8 losses. Because he failed to motivate the team.

    Got it.

Why should we have an easier schedule? Because of our record?

We're playing the NFC East and AFC North, plus the Dolphins and Titans next season, if you consider that an easy schedule that's your opinion.

This was supposed to be an easy schedule but who knew the Panthers would become SB contenders, the Falcons to have a great turnaround, the Dolphins have a great turnaround, and the Saints game was all the way in London. Then you factor in bad breaks like we had in 05 (remember the blocked fg) and before you know it it's a disappointing season.

Anyways LT had 11 TDs this year, Rivers had 34 that's 45 total.

In 06 LT had 28 TDs, Rivers had 22 that's 50 total. So that alone is 35 points over a season. (2.2 per game), then you factor in 2006 we had Merriman for 12 games, as opposed to 1 in 06, that's what another 3 points a game.

Now go back and see how many games were within a 5 point margin. 4 games were less than 5, 1 game was 5. So if you factor that in we could have been 12-3-1, which is almost the same as 06.

Obviously it's not an exact science, but you figure how many times we had to settle for FG when we were in the redzone, in 06 LT would have easily scored those, even with the crowd chanting LT. That makes a pretty big difference over a course of a season.

Would you have complained if we went 12-4? Probably not.

The problem is Norv's offense requires some beefy road graders (Fonoti types) to run his power running game, we don't have that so it was tough to run. Although Norv should have adjusted to his personnel sooner.

The Patriots could manage those egos and contracts because they had a GM(Pioli wasn't the Gm, but did the same things) that was able to keep his ego out of the way. He managed to work with players, and build an attitude of trust and respect throughout the organization. So far this offseason our GM has spit in the face of both LT and Sproles. He has also openly called out Merriman for not getting surgery early in 08, as well as being unable to stay above the fray in other situations.

We need to worry about the DEFENSE this offseason. If we can get off the field on 3rd and long like most good defenses can, it will give our O many more opportunities, and they have proven they can score anytime from anywhere.

    Defense wins championships.

Here's a grand idea, how about we wait until we see what actually happens with LT before we start lambasting AJ for being an idiot for doing something he hasn't done yet instead of responding to media speculation?

so how does a 14 million dollar deal spit in the face of Merriman who will sign a 70-80 million dollar deal? LOL dood you should come to a point where you look at your self and realize you have no idea what your talking about, btw i heard there are good deals on Pats jerseys right now so why dont you go trade your Charger one in, im sure its blind luck to win in the playoffs, i guess marty good had good vision so he had no "blind luck"

Exactly. At this point all that they have said is that they will evaluate the situation.

    OH GOD!!!

    THE HORROR!!!!

    They are going to EVALUATE!!!

Some people here are just flat retarded. This is going to be a long off season with all the reactionary bullshit.

LT is a great football player, but I doubt if the Patriots need another running back at this point.

The Pats need defensive help, and if Brady and Cassel both hang around the weight on the salary cap will be HUGE.

I don't think they would consider taking LT...the price would probably be much more than they would be willing to spend.

I got bad news for you guys. The person who built that team is now in your division.

Chargers need to win the big one soon your window will be closing with Scott in KC.

All that means is KC could become a real challenge.

That hardly closes the window as long as the Chargers maintain a very good team of their own.

There's this silly thing called the wild card that could still get them into the playoffs if Poili builds KC into a 15-1 team.
