    The clock read 4:30, and it was time. Time to get up, don the lightning bolt jersey bearing the hallowed number 21, a quick brush of the teeth then the journey began. This journey, a pilgrimage of sorts would cover 138 miles round trip from Sun City to Charger's Park off of Aero Drive.

    In the darkness of the early morning the reflective lane divider flashed by as if they were flashes of lightning, and it was in the near darkness that I pulled in front of the Mecca that I have come to see. Chargers Park sat in the darkness, the words "<strong>SAN DIEGO CHARGERS</strong>" lighting the dark, the clock now read 5:33.

    <img class="alignnone" title="Chargers Park" src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc94/Concudan_CME/Minicamp%2008/out_front.gif" alt="Chargers Park" width="600" height="371" />

    The temperature was perfect, the silence welcome. It gave me time to ponder many things, such as the end to this long, horribly long off-season. The off season that had precious little news to tide the Charger fans over. No new is indeed good new in most respects, but it can make the months of the off-season creep by like molasses in a freezer. I realized that in just a few hours that was to end. That for this fan, the off-season was about to come to an end with the blaring screech of the coach's air horn as it calls the morning practice to order.

    It was not long until I was joined by another forum poster who goes by the call sign of ‘Drunk' He came ready to tailgate, with a cooler full of carne asada, chips, salsa, and a gaggle of other goodies.

    <img class="alignnone" title="Concudan and Drunk" src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc94/Concudan_CME/Minicamp%2008/conc-n-drunk.gif" alt="Condudan and Drunk" width="600" height="481" />

    My fellow pilgrim Drunk was not there long when a silver car, coming from the north, slowed as it approached us, the drivers window came down and the driver proclaimed in a jovial voice "<em>Dang guys, practice does not start for another 3 hours!</em>", looking into the smiling face the only thing could think to say was "<em>Give'em hell Coach!</em>" as Norv Turner drove past to go to the Charger's facilities.

    <img class="alignnone" title="Chargers Park Parking Lot" src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc94/Concudan_CME/Minicamp%2008/Turner2.gif" alt="Chargers Park Parking Lot" width="600" height="429" />

    Soon another forum poster who goes by the call sign ‘San Diego Ron' arrived with his brother. They brought with them breakfast burrito fixins that were some of the best that I have ever had. Next pulled up, fashionably late as usual, the mouth of the tailgaters, Tony the Trumpet Man.

    <img class="alignnone" title="Trumpet Man" src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc94/Concudan_CME/Minicamp%2008/TM2.gif" alt="Trumpet Man" width="600" height="400" />

    The players and fans began rolling in with regularity. Alvarez from Bolt Pride did a swing by to give props to die hard fans, forum members Big Brother, Eat My Boltage, Compubolt (with wife and baby), Charger_Girl369, Ride the Lightning, Turbo_turtle, Anteater and Charger_Jeff rolled in as players rolled by in their cars.

    <img class="alignnone" title="Fans at Charggers training camp 2008" src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc94/Concudan_CME/Minicamp%2008/The_group.gif" alt="Fans at Charggers training camp 2008" width="600" height="400" />

    W exchanged stories in waiting, disused the make p of the team, praised AJ, complemented Coach Turner, and in general all shared the feeling that this team, the 2008 Chargers were bound for great things. While at this time, this is only talk, we are sure in a few short months it shall become reality.

    It was not long before the gates were opened and we all moved into the field area, the final stopping point of the pilgrimage we all came for. The pilgrimage to bid good bye to the off-season and to welcome in the <strong><span style="color: navy;">YEAR OF THE BOLT! </span></strong>
