is sooooooooo much better it is ridiculous. I wanted to say thanks to all the posters. I use to post on the ESPN board all the time, but it has been over taken by trolls and ESPN doesn't do anything about them. And half the "fans" do nothing but complain about Norv, AJ, Rivers, and anything else they can whine about.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the posters here for being able to have good conversations/debates

ESPN and CBS Sportsline have some of the worst sports forums on the internet.

This is the best forum out there. I came here years ago fleeing the terrible SDUT forum. You joined at a tough time. The tailgates are pretty damn good too.:icon_toast:

In general fan forums tend to be a lot better than the big websites (ESPN, CBS, etc.).

Glad you like it here.

For those of you familiar with ESPN, I use to post as Leberjr67 up until the 08 season when I finally changed my screen name to a player on the team, Dielman67

Yeah, my brother lives in Breck also. Do you know if there is any "Charger bars" in Denver? I know in SD, you can find a bar for nearly every other team in the league. But SD is also a big time city for people from other cities to move to. I am not sure if Denver is quite as bad. Maybe when I hit the lotto, I will open a Charger bar in Denver

That's why it's never a wise idea to make your screen name after a player.

I know, which is why I didn't follow the same trend here. But I created the Leber name right after he was drafted and though he was going to be around for a while.

ESPN wouldn't be as bad if they actually enforced the rules. But since they don't, it sucks.

yes. I've kind of followed him because one of our student workers was his cousin.

But,we have a pretty good LB corp. so no problems

Correct me if I am wrong, but weren't we running a 4-3 when he was drafted? Maybe he is just one of those guys who is better in a 4-3 than he did in a 3-4. I am not sure, as I am not 100% sure what year we changed to the 3-4

We were in a 4-3 when he was drafted.

We didn't start the 3-4 until Wade Phillips came in.

    Yup.

Though I think we will continue to see more 4-3 looks with Rivera as DC.

That is probably a reason why he was allowed to walk. He did well for us while running a 4-3, and is now doing well in Minn who runs a 4-3. Maybe the Chargers just didn't view him as a quality LB in a 3-4.

Yo DB67, Well I am finally DONE for now over at the the ESPN Charger Board. I posted your stats on AJ drafting history as I said I would and the usual suspects came out of the woodwork with there Marty Loving Excuses.

Anyway that Mako drives me crazy, and now it is a lovefest between Mako, Swami, and Rob. But the main reason I am not going to waste my time there anymore is the lack of substance that is posted.

This site is OK, IMO could use some more volume, but all the guys here seem very KEWL, and are for sure Charger Fans which I like allot. I am sure I will lioke it even more when I spend more time hear.

I am also enjoying the CMB, that is one large group of Charger Fans. There are some crazy ones but for the most part they are all decent folk.

If I remember correctly, we switched to the 3-4 the same year we got Merriman. Leber was considered expendable with Merriman coming in.

BTW- I liked Leber and wished we could have kept him.

Leber - drafted third round 2002, left in FA in 2005
    Switch to 3-4: off-season between 2003-2004
    Merriman - drafted 2005

So Leber got only 1 years in the 3-4 to prove himself. Maybe the coaching staff just felt like he wasn't a good fit for the 3-4 which is why they drafted Merriman.

Maybe Leber could have shifted inside, but who knows and that is just speculation. I am glad he is doing well in Minn.
