I've never been a fan of Ted "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy, but geez, how much more tragedy can one family endure in a couple of generations? The senator was diagnosed today with a malignant brain tumor called a glioma---usually fast-growing, inoperable, and deadly.

I guess what bothers me about all this is it truly marks the end of an era: He's the last of the Kennedy political dynasty, and the boundless energy and optimism the family stood for. Even Ted, for all his failings as a human being, has always been like a robin with one end of a ten-foot earthworm in its beak---a little nibble always kept him trying. I hope he doesn't have to suffer for very long.

I despise Ted Kennedy as a politician. I do however wish him well. Cancer is such an terrible illness.

He still looks pretty good........hard to believe he's as sick as he is.

If I were in his shoes, I think I'd be looking at hospice, rather than go through the misery of chemo, radiation etc. Hell, even NOW I wouldn't want to go the puke-and-cook route---I'd probably just tell my family all the old stories, write them letters and make a video for them to remember me by after I've passed on, and enjoy whatever time was left to me. I've lived a good life; I wouldn't want to sacrifice comfort for a few extra months. But, that's just me.

I don't know what I would do. I hope I never have to find out. I don't know if you have seen the movie The Bucket List but I guess that is something I would try to do. I can't believe after all these years of research etc the best thing we have is chemo and radiation.

    That's a movie I want to see.

I'm like you, I don't know for sure what I would do in this case and I don't ever want to find out. But knowing myself, I'd probably want to have adventures and do the stuff I always wanted to do but never had the time or money. I've lived a good but mostly "safe" life, and there's a few things I would love to do that are anything but..........like parasailing. Or skinny-dipping in the Bahamas. Or riding in a hot-air balloon. Or living in Mexico during the winters.

Oh well, no use thinking about it, cuz it won't happen. Not in this lifetime, anyway, not even if I did get sick and decide to go for broke. Too many responsibilities and obligations keeping me anchored to reality........and that's just as well.

Though cancer sucks either way you look at it. Wish him well.

No one should have to go through the suffering that cancer can bring. I wish him well.
