I know it's a tough one to swallow. This is a deep WR class, but White is such a huge steal at that point... Then you got consider Gates and Floyd are likely on their way out very soon, and even with them we could find use for a guy like White.

I do like Gordon a lot though, and RB is the more immediate need. After him it's a rather steep drop off.

I'm sitting at #17 and I see Gordon (RB), White (WR), Brown (DL) and Peat (OL) available. All the 1st round OLBs are gone. What is my thought process if I'm the Chargers?

OL - the Franklin trade has changed the entire dynamic of the OL. Sure, we can argue that we need to upgrade RG and/or RT, but the Chargers think Fluker is just fine at RT and we just got Hairston as a swing/back-up OT. Do we really need a 1st rounder or will a good 3rd or 4th round OG be enough to push Troutman and Watts?

WR - Solid, if unspectacular group. With a running game and protection, Rivers makes these guys much better. Have already added Jones, Johnson, Pettis. Tough to see a first round rookie breaking the starting lineup.

RB - Need to replace Mathews. Here's the question - has the OL improved enough for a second tier RB (e.g., Abdullah, Yeldon, Coleman, etc.) to be in the 1K yds to 1.2K yds range? If so, do we really need a 1.5K yd first rounder?

DL - DL had lots of young guys and injuries last year and was statistically miserable. Unproven guys coming back from injury (e.g., Carrethers, Tjong-A-Tjoe) - so we have lots of questions. Can Carrethers improve the DL when he is the NT? Reyes was the weakest link and as he comes into his 5th year, will he show any improvement? Because of these uncertainties the Chargers added Unrein and resigned Mathews. However, I think the Chargers will evaluate Brown as a foundational player to take the spot across from Liuget, as well as having the ability to play NT if needed, and to stay on the field on third down and when they shift to the hybrid.

So, I would have gone with Brown.
