Title really says it all. I'm looking for a timeline of Chargers running backs. Anyone know of where to find one? If not, maybe we can do one here? Obviously getting the extract dates isn't going to be easy, so let's just do the best we can I guess...

    Sproles
    Tomlinson
    Turner

Are you looking for leading rushers over the years or a list of all RBs to ever play for the Chargers?

The former can be found under the "rushing" column here. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/sdg/

The latter can be found at the same site, but it'd take a lot of clicking (clicking on each year to see every year's roster) because I don't think they have a list like that specifically for teams.

How much detail are you looking for ? Years on the team? Games played / started? Stats? and how far back do you want to go?

Here's a "Starter set" for you - that addresses the "LT - era" I am pulling info from the Chargers media kit and from Chargers.com and NFL.com

There are some recent free agents that aren't here but most of the people we have heard of are on the list. Take it and run with it...

    2009 - Gartrell Johnson
    2008 - Jacob Hester
    2008 - Mike Tolbert
    2008 - Michael Bennett
    2008 - 2008 Marcus Thomas
    2007 - 2008 Eldra Buckley
    2005 - Darren Sproles
    2004 - 2007 Michael Turner
    2003 - 2007 Andrew Pinnock
    2003 - 2007 Lorenzo Neal
    2001 - LaDainian Tomlinson

    Go Chargers!!!

Yes this is my main source of all statistics I search for.
I too have the two books of Todd Tobias about the early
Chargers "Charging through the AFL" and "Bombs away"

There are game statistics in it from the 60ies
The first RBs are Paul Lowe, Howie Ferguson, Charlie Flowers,
Keith Lincoln, Garry McDougall, Keith Kinderman, Jim Allison
    Dickie Post...

Look at that...I go out to lunch and come back to more info that I wanted. This is great! Thanks for the help guys. To be honest, I don't remember much before the Tomlinson-era. My Dad, nor any other family member was really into football, so I found this wonderful game on my own.

Something like this really helps me put to names that you always hear to dates. Now I know when Muncie and Means played. Before I had no idea...

I've always known the Chargers to have a formidable ground game. A combined 749 yrds in 1999-2000. OUCH! Tomlinson has done that over the course of a month!

Thanks again. Maybe we should do this for QB's too? Not really something I'm into, but if someone was bored while surfings stats...?

Man, that really brings home how much LT has meant to this team. Those numbers are impressive. If he picks up 1000 this year he will haveaAs many 1000 yard years as all the guys that went before him the previous 40 years. I think he puts up 1200-1300 this year and performs in the playoffs.
