Kind of explains why we haven't seen many local sponsors jumping in to buy up remaining tickets.

According to a Cincinnati sports writer I heard on the radio today, the Bengals have had problems selling out this year, despite their success (especially at home). They had to get extensions for a number of games, and the Monday night game needed sponsors to step in to buyout the remainders. It's not surprising at all that there are playoff tickets left, when you consider the increase in cost for them.

One thing people don't know is that the NFL sets the playoff ticket prices, not the team. What is decided by the team is how season ticket holders pay for them. Friends of mine are Packer season ticket holders. Back when Green Bay was a 6 seed and won it all, they wanted their season ticket holders to pay for a full slate of playoff tickets even though they were not going to have a home playoff game. If those season ticket holders didn't pay, then they were taken out of the running for the possible purchase of Superbowl tickets.

The last time the Chargers hosted a playoff game (;)), season ticket holders were given the option of paying for the one home game they new were going to have, and then a second if that was going to happen.

All 3 teams facing blackouts have been given until tomorrow to sell their remaining tickets.
