I like Gerhart over Dwyer. They are both decent players and both have potential.

Gerhart also played against teams that were rated higher against the run than Dwyer.

Furthermore, Gerhart has better hands than Dwyer.

White RBs always get a bad rap though. So Toby will drop like a rock.

thats our one hope to get him. I'm guessing he goes in the 2nd round. I think most of the good rb's will get taken in the 2nd round. We need a early 2nd rounder.

As far as dwyer. He and dixon are almost twins in what they can do. Gerhart is physicall like them but a little quicker.

Personally I'd really like to find a rb that can get us those 3rd and 2 yards or 3rd and two to score.
We've always had trouble getting in the past. BE nice to find a rb that on his own could do that. Could plow into the line and make his own hole.

Kind of like no one believed that Jacob Hester would turn out to be the great running back that he is.

Dwyer is a late 2nd rounder to me, I'll be thoroughly disgusted if we waste a 1st round pick on a lifelong 2nd stringer. (like he will be at the next level)

yep, we need an early to middle 2nd rounder. Matthews and tate are probably maybe worth the 28th pick in the first round. but I would guess we could get them in the early 2nd round as well. At least we know alot of the intangibles of these rb's now. Were not gonna get another ladanian. Those come around once every 10 years. Its gonna be running back by committee. WE need a mister inside and a mr. outside rb now.

and then there is gerhart. Do you think we could get him with our 2nd pick.

Gerhart did well for himself at the combine. Imo he elevated himself back into the 2nd round. I also like Blount for the Jumbo Back portion of a RB by committee. The problem with our draft slot is I don't think Gerhart will be there at 60 and Blount is a total unknown, following the Senior Bowl he ws getting allot of press and he looked like a 2nd rounder also but after the combine when his 40 time and other drils were not that great he might fall back to the 3rd or further.

I think we need atleast one or maybe even 2 other backs to go with this type of jumbo back talent.

could we get gerhart with our second pick. He's got one thing that Ladanain and sporles don't have and might work better with our o-line. hard to bring down. Ben tate is like that as well.

And the other rb that is kind of like gerhart is ben tate.

No. Gerhart fits in with Houston. If he's there in the second round, the Texans might pull the trigger.

With Sproles coming back, it seems even more likely that one of these guys will be on our team. After the combine, Dwyer and Tate might be the only big RBs left in round 2.

Again I'll mention Montario Hardesty, he's a medium sized back but I like the way he plays football. Reminds me of Thomas Jones.

I am damn keen on Gerhart. The dude is a tough, uncompromising runner. Plus he's from Norco, CA so he's practically playing in his hometown :).

Um... wow I'm convinced. Still would prefer Spiller or Ryan Matthews, even Jahvid Best (although probably not needed if we really keep sproles), but those guys will probably not be around when we are picking. I'm still trying to decide if we need a RB or NT in round 1. Without Jamal it looks like NT... our biggest issue last season was inability to stop the run so even if Jamal gets resigned it probably wouldn't hurt to get his replacement ready. That means getting a RB in R2, hopefully Gerhart will still be around.

Imagine a big bruiser like that matched with speedster Sproles? Our offense would be beastly.

I think that is still unlikely. I have serious doubt that the Chargers would Pay Sproles over $7mil to be a 3rd down back, and he isn't capable of being anything more. I am looking for him to be traded. Maybe that is where we get the early 2nd rounder

I liked Tate's running style. He has something Gerhart lacks, the ability to bounce outside and accelerate to beat the defender.

but we went into the season basically planning on turning him into Lorenzo Neal. We haven't done that at all, and ironically enough Tolbert seems to have beaten him at that. They do need to convert one of the two (Tolbert/Hester) to RB

When we drafted him AJ said it was as a running back not a full back.

Tolbert has more of the FB build/mentality, but neither is a true FB IMO.

Tolbert could be our bruiser type. Good feet, balance, & power. Again, just my opinion, but we could can Hester, draft a true FB like Jackson from UVA & another FT back & have a better backfield than last year's.

But .... Hester is here to stay, at least for now. AJ isn't ready to swallow that pill.
