LOL. I love the "retraction". What he "meant" to say was "stay hydrated".

    Awesome. :D

Lemmeseehere, oh yeah "Start drinking early. Get nice and ROWDY"... I didn't know New Englanders got "nice and rowdy" off of bottled water. Guess you learn something every day? <wink wink wink>

Edited: Mr. Kraft needs a new crew of spin masters - the ones he currently has employed suck a root.

I've been known to get "rowdy" off of several tall glasses of water with ice cubes - it had nothing to do with all the VO in there - hanest!

They get more rowdy when they don't clean off those clams before they put them into their chowder...

I thought it was funny when he said it. Nothing wrong with encouraging your fan base to have some extra fun. However, the team's "retraction" was beyond pathetic and should make anyone cringe. Did that statement even need clearing up? Really??

Man some of you guys need to tone down your hate meters. What Tom said was perfectly fine and NONE of you would be saying an ill word if Philip said that to our fans.

Philip is way too straight-laced to ever say something like that, but I agree. What Tom said was hilarious. And his "retraction" was more sarcastic than anything else. He was asked about his "start drinking early" comments during a conference call with SD media and he said, "I was really just telling the fans to stay hydrated because it's been hot out here." Awesome. As much as I hate the Pats, it's hard not to like Tom.

They need to lube up so there won't be excessive brown dust created from the ***-raping that we're going to hand out.

So if I said to you it's going to be hot out there, make sure you get nice and lubed up you would honestly wouldn't think twice about what I said?

In any case, maybe it's just me but 63 degrees is not hot. (Reports say it's supposed to be 63 at least.)

Nope, which is exactly how I feel about Tom's comments as well. He was making a joke and I thought it was funny.

I think the lube comment was a mistake, the drink early comment was the joke... who the hell jokingly says lube up to the fans?

Getting lubed up is a common phrase for getting drunk.

I would have said "lube up" and then probably laughed it off. Who cares? Fans get drunk. They should get drunk. Have a Sam Adams!

Don't blame all of us Americans - I have never known anyone to use "lube" as a term for getting drunk - if I did, I'd remember b/c I would have laughed my *** off in their face.

Yeah, but the Pats always manage to hand the Chargers their asses...remember the last time the Cs went into Foxboro...I believe it was 38-14...or something close. :D

A little less androgynous than "lubed up"

Actually, the last time was the AFC Championship when we picked off Brady 3 times and only lost by 9 points despite the fact that LT and Gates were hobbled and Rivers was playing on a torn ACL. Not really a game you guys should be proud of, especially since it led to you losing to Eli Manning in the SB. Talk about embarrassment.

I think it started because alcohol is known as a social lubricant. Hence getting drunk is getting "lubed up."
