    Tomlinson picks the Jets
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 14, 2010 6:11 PM ET
LaDainian Tomlinson has made his decision. He's going to be a New York Jet.

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Tomlinson and the Jets reached an agreement today on a two-year contract.

Tomlinson's decision, which had been expected for the last couple of days, comes after he considered the Minnesota Vikings, where he visited on Thursday. On Friday he visited the Jets and on Saturday he flew home to San Diego to spend some time thinking before making up his mind.

Tomlinson will join a backfield that also includes running back Shonn Greene, who's coming off a strong rookie season with the Jets in 2009. During the regular season Greene carried 108 times for 540 yards, and in three playoff games he had 54 carries for 304 yards.

The question now is whether Tomlinson, who will turn 31 in June, has enough left to contribute to a Jets team that's coming off a loss in the AFC Championship Game and has Super Bowl aspirations. In 2009 Tomlinson had a career-low 730 rushing yards and a career-low 3.3 yards a carry.

So much for those character issues in the locker room huh? The way he left really pisses me off.

How lame is that. I can't wait for a fresh kid out of college to come here and light it up.

Edit: I think he just lost faith in the Chargers

So what precisely do the Jets have besides
    1. A bad attitude
    2. a media constantly willing to blow it
    3. A defense due to fall back to down to earth
    4. a putz of a head coach
    5. an unproven QB

There is no way this makes the Jets a better team, all he's going to do is spell Greene and Washington if he stays.

This is Emmitt to the Cardinals all over again.

Well, they are courting Brandon Marshall.

Rex had lap band surgery so he'll be much less of a putz.

    ho hum...

We all knew he was going to sign with someone... but the Jets? LT is dead to me... I'm done being his fan boy until he retires... now he's the ENEMY!

    Note to self:

1- fold up LT jersey and put into storage
    2- buy a PR jersey
3- get ready for the season.
4- Pull out LT jersey in 5-7 years and watch his H-O-F induction.

Considering he's looking for a ring and he's not playing for the Chargers I'm hoping he doesn't get what he's looking for.

    This.

    ------

The only thing LT could have done worse is join the Raiders. This is only slighty below on the a-hole scale.
Way to slap your fans in the face Tomlinson.

    Hear ye, Hear ye!

"LT" will now be referred to as LaDainian Tomlinson until he retires.

For all of you that are Chargers fans because of LaDainian Tomlinson or started watching in the last 9 years.....

    1) I am sorry - Your hero/idol has left.

    2) Get over it (don't mean this in an arsehole way) - I have seen many SD hero's leave this team to go to other teams. You have now been introduced to the "business". If you live long enough you will see many more of your favorite players leave.

    3) This is a team sport and you support the team. Unless you are not a "Charger fan".

    4) Take 24 hours to mourn, grieve, or whatever you do. Then come back and let's talk about our team.

I did start following the Bolts because I watched Tomlinson at TCU. However, I fell in love with the team and have supproted it whole-heartedly ever since. When Brees went to the Saints I was rooted for him and the Saints. I had hoped to do this with L........ with Tomlinson, but sadly there's no way. He is indeed dead to me until he retires, for somewhere along the way I evolved from being a Tomlinson fan into being a Charger fan.

Indeed if fans have followed this or any team, the "Turk" spares no one from the gallows.

Still, what I will never get is the "LT wants to play for a contender" logic. The Jets are way further off from a title than we are--they played an easy schedule last year, beat us at our worst, and backed into the playoffs.

We are a few pieces off from having a championship-caliber team--the Jets have a sophomore, fumble-prone RB, a sophomore QB who has questionable receivers, a defense that can only get worse fromlast year's overachievement, and worst ofall for them, Cromartie.

LT wants to play for a contender? My ***.

So, if we sign Thomas Jones would everyone feel better?

Nah, LT has a right to sign with whoever he wishes, and I think he did because we did not really want him back in any capacity.

That said, he did not sign with the Jets because they are on the cusp of a Championship. Frankly, they will be fighting for their playoff lives from Week 1.

Dude is out for the jack otherwise, Tomlinson would have told A.J. that he would take a vet minimum to stay. LT already said he would not do that so LT cut his own throat despite what fans think about LT getting "cut". It is all bull.

I especially like when LT said there is no loyalty. They made him the highest paid RB back in the day and he comes out with that crap ? :icon_wtf: :banghead:

All of Ladainian's rhetoric can be summed up in 1 sentence:
"I DON'T WANT TO PLAY FOR NORV."

right, so the jets basically traded Jones for LT.

    Good or bad?

LT sigtned for Thomas Jones money plus 100k. LT is now being measured by Thomas freaking Jones. How funny is that. LT=Thomas Jones. That translates into LT is done. Hoping to meet the Jets in the playoffs again next year.
