Why wouldn't the Chiefs trade him? He'll be 40 before that team is worth a ****.

Nothing, unless you are an NFL tight end.

Gates is turning it back on. His toe issue is mostly in our heads now. Judging from his last game I would say he is about 82%. The last 18% heals quick since most of it is rust that needs to break loose.

Raider week is going to be Gatsies welcome back party. You can't stop a train. The G-Train is about to kick it up a notch.

What? Tony Gonzalez? Oh, he's okay too. He's all the Chiefs got at this moment since they've forgotten how to use Larry Johnson. Forgetting how to use their weapons sits okay with me.

As far as Gonzo expecting a first day pick for being traded....

They officially made the announcement on Gonzalez, with the G-Men showing some interest. Chiefs are shopping him.

Hope he goes to the NFC.

It was a little surprising to have Tony Gonzalez still stuck in Kansas City at the end of yesterday's riveting NFL trade deadline but the 32-year-old Pro Bowl tight end's quest for a Super Bowl will apparently have to wait another lifetime. Even though Gonzalez had politely requested a trade while the team struggles to "rebuild", Chiefs owner Carl Peterson wouldn't budge on his lofty trade demands for a second round pick.

Gonzalez admitted to all NFL players favorite psychotherapist, Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, that he was "pissed off" when he found out he will be stuck catching balls from Croyle/Huard/Thigpen for the rest of the year.

I'm shocked. It didn't make sense not to do this deal. It's winding down for me and this team is rebuilding. If they said from the get-go, 'No, we're not going to trade you,' that would've been better than how this whole thing unfolded. But that's not what happened.

Nope. Not at all. Gonzalez says he won't let his anger affect his play, he'll be a good soldier, he'll still save choking victims, etc. but this isn't the way he wanted to go out.

"But you know what? I can't cry about it. If anything, this has motivated me even more. I'm a Chief, will be happy to be a Chief and will bust my butt for the Chiefs. I was never not happy being a Chief. I just wanted the chance to spend my last couple of years winning a title, not rebuilding. But I'm here to help rebuild, I'll work with all our young guys and get after it like I always have."

To give this a more positive spin, let's congratulate Gonzalez on becoming the Chiefs newest assistant coach.

I've seen happier campers who'd run out of toilet paper. Tony is going to have a painful case of TMJ before the season is out.

Adam Schefter of the NFL Network is reporting the Buffalo Bills offered a third-round pick "and other compensation" to the Kansas City Chiefs for tight end Tony Gonzalez, but the future Hall of Famer didn't want to play for the Bills.
Had perennial Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez embraced the chance to play in Buffalo rather than reject it, he would have found out what the late, great Tim Russert knew.
Buffalo is a great football town. It reveres its football heroes. And the football team is pretty compelling -- certainly more compelling these days than the Kansas City Chiefs.
The other teams in the Gonzalez derby reportedly were the Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.
Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal wrote late Wednesday night Gonzalez wouldn't consider the Bills or Falcons, that he wanted to play for the Packers. Wilde reported the Packers thought they had a deal and drew up the paperwork for a third-round choice before Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson asked for a second-rounder 10 minutes before the Tuesday deadline.
