Shotty is a great pitch man but when it comes to championship football he melts like ice.

Geez, I just saw Marty on the Top Ten Coaches to Never Win a Championship, Marty was number 4.

Anyways, they actually had a clip of Marty telling the secondary BEFORE THE GAME, to just fall to the ground once they got the game winning interception. MARTY told them that, and those BONEHEADS still didn't listen. GOD!!!!! That game pisses me off to no end.

This I disagree with. He is a good coach but he's wayyyyyyyyyyyy too emotional the be motivational.

Mora could have been a good coach if he had some control over his emotions.

I saw that too and shook my head. He must have had a psychic moment.

Of course, he was telling Florence and not McCree, so maybe that was the problem.

Remember how we had picked MEcree up to be a leader in the secondary? It just wasn't meant to be that day:no:

Marty was what we needed and that's where he rules.

Cleveland was a mess... he got them a STUPID fumble away from the Super Bowl.

Kansas City was a mess... without Niel Smith and Derrik Thomas (bless his heart) The team sucked ***!!! He made them Super Bowl contenders.

Washington DC was a mess... When your starter is Tony Banks, you ain't got nothing!!! He got them from 0-5 to 8-8, just missing the playoffs in one season. Had they kept Marty, I'd bet my life the Redskins would have been in the playoffs next season.
BTW... guess who's mess he cleaned up!!!

San Diego was a horrible mess (1-15 followed by 5-11).... He cleaned it up. He's one of the reasons we've been so competitive over the last 5+ seasons.

I said it at the time Marty was hired in San Diego:

He's great at turning teams around, and getting them to the playoffs. Once he gets the Chargers to that point, we can re-evaluate whether or not he's the right coach to bring the organization a championship.

No doubt... Marty got things turned around.

Also no doubt that he botched his chances at taking the team deep into the playoffs.

He didn't separate Drew Brees's shoulder or miss a chip shot field goal, or fumble a interception, or punch a guy in the face bringing a 15 yard penalty.

No... Marty didn't commit those errors.

Marty was, however, the Captain, and that stuff happened "on HIS watch". It was a pattern of undisciplined actions by players presumably under his leadership.

Marty WAS, by the way, directly responsible for the misguided call to go for it on 4th and 11, and later in the game was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for coming out onto the field. Those two gaffes were as big as any in the game.

So it was just Marty's players who blew it... Marty blew it, too.

    sorry Walt, but he did:
. play Brees in a meaningless game to get his 10 win bonus...
. called such a conservative last series to all but concede a longer FG... :icon_shrug:

dood was a great teacher, but sucked as a game-day general... and Norv is that... no matter what Bolts4life says...
