    Trent Green To Retire

Posted by Aaron Wilson on June 12, 2009, 1:04 p.m.

Veteran NFL quarterback Trent Green has opted to retire, telling Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com that it was time to move on after dealing with a series of serious concussions in recent years.
Green, 38, was cut by the St. Louis Rams during the offseason after backing up Marc Bulger last season and starting one game.

Green threw no touchdowns with six interceptions last season.

“I feel this is finally the right time,” Green said. “I’ve talked about it with [family] for a while, especially with the concussions over the last few years. We all felt it was the time to do it. . . .
“The way I approached the game, the amount of work I put into my preparation and being someone guys can turn to in the locker room, I don’t want to be a guy who waits for someone to get hurt to get a job.”

Green is going to pursue a career in broadcasting.
Green played in the NFL for 15 seasons, passing for 28,475 career yards, 162 touchdowns and 114 interceptions.
