One night when Cromartie was a high school sophomore, Gardner sat on the edge of her bed with two bills, one for electricity, the other for Antonio’s private high school. She could pay only one. She prayed aloud, asking God what she should do. She eventually went to bed, opting to make a decision in the morning. After she woke up, Cromartie made it for her, telling her he wanted to transfer to a public school.

    A prayer had been answered.

    The lights would stay on.

Months later, he told her he had overheard her praying

The measure is the responsibility he feels toward the children he has sired, unlike a lot of other men. This guy deserves every dime he earns in his career.

    At the end.

I know this article was a fluff piece, but man, if you read in between the lines it's not very flattering, or a really story that "could've been a lot worse" but were really really pedestrian... I mean who doesn't have a car wreck story...

He "survives" a very ordinary car wreck.
He get's chased by an angry parent.
He father's 5 kids in three years.
He almost flunks out of elementry school
He is never an "A" student.
Willing to ditch the team regardless of the reality of the situation (the guy turned himself in, his mom was fine)
Get in fights at college that prevent him from starting.
Drops out of college early, for potential 5th round pick.

I mean, he's my favorite player. Been rooting for the guy since day one. Still love the guy. And I am glad that everything turned out for him. But this wasn't a very good article. Exaggerated stories, a few close calls, and over all kinda painted him as a bit dunce/punk.

I dunno. I mean he's seems like a good guy, taking care of his Mom, and grandma, trying to take care of his kids (dude ever heard of a condom?), but I don't think he's a hero. He's a really f*cking talented player, who seems young and making the best of a bad situation. Let's not break out the holly water just yet.

Good for you chispa. If more intelligent and fertile american girls had your attitude we'd have a far better crop of youngins coming into the world now. God bless you and god speed.. :flag::flag:

p.s.. I'm kidding. But it is all about genetic engineering. So it really shouldn't matter who the parents are as long as the kid winds up making huge amounts of money in his lifetime through the good engineering of his donars to his heritage.
