I started growing it in February just after last season ended. It's just something that I decided to do. It's not a superstition or anything like that. Some friends dared me to do it and I've just let it go. I don't have any plans to shave it yet. We'll just see how long it gets. Right now it's about three or four inches.

Is there anything that you miss about your home town of Chicago?

There are a lot of things I miss, but having a white Christmas is the biggest thing right now. I'm used to having snow on the ground this time of year. I love the sunshine, but the holidays aren't the same without the white stuff.

    Cubs or White Sox?

I'm a big-time Cubs fan. The Sox got lucky this year. I'm happy for them, but we wanted the Cubs to win it all before the White Sox.

Did you ever get to see Michael Jordan play at the United Center when you were growing up?

I saw him play the year that the Bulls went 72-10. That was an incredible season. I respected him, but I was more of a Lakers fan. I guess I do belong in Southern California.

What's the number one thing that stands out about being LaDainian Tomlinson's backup?

Opportunity. Every day I have the incredible opportunity to watch and learn from one of the best backs to ever play. Because he's so good, I have to take advantage of every opportunity to that I get to contribute. Fortunately, I've done that lately.

You've got a great sense of humor. Which one of your teammates makes you laugh the most?

Reche Caldwell. All the defensive backs like Quentin Jammer and Drayton Florence talk a lot and say some funny things, but Reche cracks me up more than anyone. He gives me props on my speed but always reminds me that he can still outrun me.

Didn't you and Reche race last spring?

Yeah, we went at it during minicamp last May. I was about to beat him but he cheated. He pulled my hand back before I could pass him. I really was about to get him. He was coming off ACL surgery, though. We might have to line up again and see who wins.

Who are a couple of running backs that you really like to watch play?

Jim Brown was my main guy. Of course I liked Walter Payton a lot, too. I love to watch Earl Campbell run through people on the old NFL films. Bo Jackson was fun to watch because he ran so hard. I had to find out my own way of doing things, but I guess I am a big, fast guy like them. Don't get me wrong, I realize I'm not in that class. But I'm working hard in hopes of one day being there.

What was your favorite Christmas present you got when you were a kid?

One year, my brother Ryan got a Voltron, the lions that came together to form a big robot. I thought it was for me and started playing with it and having a big time. I was so sad when I found out it wasn't for me, but because I liked it so much, Ryan let me have it.
