    1) Next time a team have 6 seconds left....stand him up, let the forward momentum continue until the clock runs out then drop his ***!

    2) Could we have let the new rule change benefit us? We could have grabbed the WR and forced him out of bounds. Isn't the the ruling? He has to come down with 2 feet in regardless.....correct?

Note to Cottrell, LEt the WR's get to the very back of the end-zone and when they go up to get it......PUSH THEM!!!!

    Note to Cottrell, BLITZ!
Note to Cottrell, stop playing prevent
    Note to Cottrell, get creative
Note to Cottrell, stop the run. All you have to do is attack!
Note to Cottrell, teach these guys how to tackle
Note to Cottrell, you lost us this game.

Rushing the passer might be a good idea.

    Nope.

Defensively we held them to less points then our offense scored. Gates fumble is what cost us the game.

That prevent at the end of the game with ZERO blitzes was a thing of beauty.

There's a rule in football....expect the unexpected and adjust. Cotrell failed in that respect. Gates fumble din't help but a ****** prevent defense made it sting.

Note to Cotrell- Don't leave a reciever open at the back of the endzone. At least the Colts lost.

...Wasn't that Colt beat down one of the biggest surprises on Sunday? It shocked the heck out of me :icon_huh: In all honesty, the Charger game was looking very similar, the way we were being manhandled. At least Philip and the offense got fired up and brought us back. The Colts dink and dunk futility was pitiful and it never really looked like they had a chance.

It is looking more and more like the opportunity is now. That window is WIDE open to at least get to the dance. I just hope Norv and Cotrell see the urgency as well as the players!

Note to XX...... there were 2 defenders around that receiver. One that couldn't jumper over a pencil and the other one giving up quite a bit in height. Face it, it was a nice throw.

IMO the Gate deal was not a fumble. His knees touched, he was touched then they pulled the ball.

I think it was a 'give back' call after they blew the review on Rivers being over the LOS...

I dunno, Conc - it was awfully close. Either way, that didn't cost us the game. We overcame that - the defense let us down. :icon_sad:

100% Agree. We did not keep the starter in a lot. Ant and I kept seeing Olshansky and Castillo on the side lines, almost more than Jamal, with no apparent reasoning for it.

Don't forget the Will ILB that bit on the pump - that was actually his man. Matt admitted it later in a post-game interview and said next time he will make that play.

Personally I'd like to see him support the run better. Our ILBs had a TOTAL of 6 tackles and 3 assists. That isn't the level of performance you expect running a 3-4.

Back to the original post, I think that's an interesting idea. From what I understand about the new rule, the WR MUST have 2 feet inside, regardless of whether anyone pushed him out or not. If he's pushed out, then it's incomplete, thereby removing the judgement call for the refs.

I think that's a pretty significant rule change that has been slightly overlooked this year. I've seen more mention of the coin flip rule change than this.

According to Rosaria, Wilhelm actually tipped the ball toward him. Haven't heard that elsewhere, but if he did it might explain why Weddle missed touching the ball. I'm left wondering if he was drawing bead on an int or batting it down. Regardless, we had two guys in a position to make a play and it didn't happen.

Question.....the rule I thought was either knee down or forearm. I would have to say his knee definitely was not down but his forearm sure looked like it was. Now with that said, does the ball have to be in the hands of the arm that touches the ground or does it make a difference?

I did. Merriman went off to the locker room, Tucker came in and got serious enough pressure to force Delhomme up in the pocket, and Jakey boy got sacked by Philips.
