WR Vincent Jackson (foot) missed all three practices this week, save early walk-throughs. He's had one limited practice since the short-rest game at Tennessee on Christmas Day.

That achilles injury is either lingering or Norv is being extremely cautious. :icon_shrug: Time for somebody to re-assure me that this isn't going to affect the way he runs in the playoffs.

    Healing up

The Chargers won’t be required to issue an injury report until next Wednesday, so Turner didn’t confirm players who did or didn’t participate in Thursday’s practice. He did, however, sound very optimistic about the health status of his team for next weekend’s divisional playoff game.

“We’re making progress from an injury standpoint,” Turner said. “I really do expect all of our guys to be ready to go and go full speed when we start on Wednesday.”
Like he did Wednesday, Turner ran a shorter practice than normal Thursday but lauded the focus of his players and was pleased with what they accomplished.

“We probably went about 15 minutes less but I thought we got great work,” Turner said. “We got great work in the red zone, goal line, backed up, some situations like third downs.”

Another adjustment this week: the Chargers aren’t doing any work in pads and Turner has dismissed them immediately following practice rather than holding meetings like they do in a normal game week.

He can expect all he wants but achilles injuries can nag. I'd like to hear what Vjack has to say about it, he's been completely silent since the Tennessee game.

    Vincent Jackson: Turner not worried

Vincent Jackson - WR - SD - Jan. 7 - 9:19 am et Coach Norv Turner said that he expects to have all his players, including Vincent Jackson (Achilles), ready to go when the Chargers come out of their off week.

Turner is just confirming what we already know -- V-Jax's "injury" is nothing serious. He'll put in a full practice schedule next week and can be drafted with confidence in playoff fantasy leagues. Jan. 7 - 9:19 am et

Anyone who has ever played any contact sport has had a nagging injury. For me it was my ankle. I hope everyone is 100% by next Sunday, but in reality, they probably won't be.

Can we please put an end to this lame cookie-cutter trend in nicknames where we take the first letter of the first name add a dash and then put in the first syllable of the last name?

    A-Rod
    V-Jack
    A-Gon

    It's out of control.

What happened to the good ol days of nicknames like "The Splendid Splinter", "the Juice", "Icky Woods", and "Sweetness"?

If we're going to be lazy with it just don't give them a nickname at all.

So, how's Vincent Jackson's health holding up?

What about "Nate the Great"? :)

But I agree, "Action Jackson" sounds much cooler than anything 1 degree removed from A-Roid.

Being similar to "A-Rod" just makes it that much worse, but it's the lame cookie-cutter laziness aspect of it that grinds my gears.

I had a problem with my Achilles Tendon when I was younger, and still bothers me to this day. You can't rush things like this even if it's just sore.

Just be glad they had the week off, and didn't need him in the 'skins game.

Maybe Norv is doing what Belicheat does, and "fudges" players injuries a little. Ray Lewis seems to think so...

Jonathan Stewart has been on the injury list all season because of his achilles. I know its a different position but he has been great pretty much all year. Im sure with 3 weeks of rest and a shot before the game, Vincen-jackso will be fine. IF not, Floyd and Buster looked fine last week. Rivers will make them step up.

Yeah... and coaches and players never mislead the public about injuries.

Most teams do. The Chargers have tried (LT last season), they're just no good at it.

Wow, you're finding something to be negative about. I'm shocked.

Why is it extremely cautious to give a guy the week off to rest an injury that gets better with rest? It's not extremely cautious. It's prudent.

Because douch, he had only 1 practice since the Titans game. A QB/WR relationship is built on timing. Its not unreasonable to be worried that this relationship could be affected by a 3-4 weeks of rest, much less the fact that its an injury (achilles) that could affect the way he runs.

It doesn't surpise me that this thread was over your head, you've never been the one to see the big picture.

Blow me, tough guy. And learn how to spell douche.

Norv has talked excitedly how the Chargers are going to be as healthy as they've been all year for the playoffs. I don't think he's blowing smoke. VJ will be fine. Norv said he expects everyone practicing by Wednesday. That means a full week of practice for VJ and Rivers to find their timing.

It seems as though you get off on finding things to be negative about. Maybe I'm the only one that sees this, but I doubt it.

I hear what you are saying. If we were playing this weekend then it would concern me. If he does not practice next Wed then we have an issue.
