    OK...here is the deal.

Since my mom is going, I decided to get a hotel which was closer to Michaels Pub yet had a higher star rating than the Tropicana. The fact Thumper said the Tropicana smelled like **** has permeated my mind even though I did not smell **** the last time I was there.

I am about to select the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino: 4000 W Flamingo Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89103

This hotel had a 3 1/2 star rating and has a complimentary shuttle to the sister casino, the Orleans where some of you are staying. Plus, this place is right down the road from Michaels Pub which is at the corner of Flamingo and Rainbow.

    Prices:

Room rate 12/1: $89.10 per night
Room rate 12/2: $38.70 per night
    Taxes $8.19 per night

Call it $150.00 for a two night stay.

Do we have any group activity plans yet besides the game? Like a Sat. Night booze/gambling/strippers-a-thon?

None. I was eyeing the Prime rib place at the Orleans some of the posters are staying at for dinner plans Saturday night....around 8pm.

Other than that it is gambling and then seeing you mongrels Sunday morning 9 AM'ish. I will be drinking in the parking lot. :icon_party:

I'll go ahead and switch hotels to either the Gold Coast or the Orleans.

Currently I have two rooms reserved at the Tropicana... and don't want to be staying there by myself.

    So far we have:
    RTL/wife at his time share.
Trumpie and family at Gold Coast
    Thumper at the Orleans
    Me (Gold Coast or Orleans)

    Anyone else?

    I'
I'm looking forward to meeting the LV locals at Michael's on Sunday. Orleans for dinner on Saturday night sounds very good to me. :nana_dance:

 I'd better cancel my Tropicana reservations. Don't want to be staying there by myself.

    So far we have:

    RTL/wife at their time share
Trumpie and family at GOLD COAST
    Thumper at ORLEANS
Me - whichever of those two hotels has the best deal..;)

    Anyone else??

It is a bit cheaper if you book through the Gold Coast website by about $10.00 versus the prices I quoted. I used some chickenshit lasvegas.com thing to book which was a bit sketchy. I had to call the aholes to get a confirmation. Anyway, the reviews seemed to be quite good and it is literally right down the road from Michaels Pub (Flamingo/Rainbow).

After thinking about it, I did not want to chance having my mom smell **** at the Tropicana since she put me in charge of booking rooms. That is all I need to hear is mom jumping off on my case because the hotel smells of asss.

My mom arrives at 7pm Sat nite in Vegas. I was going to get her in her room fast and then go straight to dinner maybe at the Orleans or there at the Gold Coast and just party. The Orleans and Gold Coast are sister casinos and have free shuttles between them and to the Barbary Coast (now Billy's) on the strip for free as well.

It would be cool to name a place and time (8pm or shortly thereafter) to get as many of us together for dinner and plan from there.....

Who knows? Play it by ear.

I should be in Vegas no later than 5 PM on Saturday if not a bit earlier.

Oh great... I think I just "screwed the pooch"

Cancelled my reservations at the Tropicana before I could make them at the Gold Coast. Guess what... Gold Coast is sold out for next weekend. I might be able to get the Orleans but at over $200.00 for the two nights. Oh well. :icon_twisted:

    Hey Carrie -

I just spoke with my mom and she said she would split her room with you.

We can ask for an additional bed in the room upon arrival.

The Palms is right across the street from the Gold Coast. Might want to give them a call. Cant be worse than the rates you got from The Orleans.

Fukit. Cancel it all. The room is already paid for and reserved at the Gold Coast. Buy me a beer and call it even. That is a sweet deal. You may get nailed a cancellation fee but it is still cheaper than $200.00 so roll with it sista'.

Thank you, thank you... I'm glad to split the cost of the room with your mama.

Anyway.. It's some big rodeo week in Vegas and the room rates have shot up.

Hay, if we can plan in advance, I have a friend who works at the Bellagio. She can get us the honeymoon suite at MGM for around $75 a night... Gotta plan in advance for that.

Before I got your PM Trumpie, I was ready to call her and beg her for a hook up.

I would not be surprised to see this number double easily. I will get there early to help man the fort. If wifey and mom/Carrie are lagging, they can get their own taxi. I will bring the horn.:rockout::nana_guitar:

I'll probably stagger in some time around the 3rd quarter,

I can be there early, and as of now, Wifey is "Questionable" for next weeks game. She's not on IR yet, since she's moving around much better today than she was the last couple of days. Still, she's debating whether a trip to vegas is the best thing for her recovery, even though I promised if she went I would be mellow and not completely beligerent for 2 days non stop. I'm hoping she can make it, but if not, solo is just fine w/ me. I'll know later in the week for sure, she may be a gametime decision.

Boltjolt, how do you like your iPod touch? Something unfortunate happened to my black video 80 gb iPod and I cannot live much longer without an iPod...esp for walks, gym etc. I like to download some of my tv shows on it as well as use it for music...

I can't decide between a new iPod video, an iPod touch, an iPhone (bc my AT&T contract is now up so I need a new phone)...or, what I am kind of leaning towards: the iPod nano with video...bc I might switch cell phone carriers...undecided.

I don't need tons of storage space because I can watch and then delete the shows...

They all look good to me...it's hard to decide. Did you do that hack/features thing to your iPod touch?

I'm sort of favoring the nano bc it is small...it is made differently on the inside than the video ipod and more resilient to dropping...they're all so good though...
