2010 NFL Trade Rumors: Eight Guys Who Could Be On the Move

Vincent Jackson, WR, San Diego Chargers

I don't know why anyone seriously thinks the Chargers are going to let Jackson get away, as he's their only dependable receiver, and easily their only flat-out playmaker on offense, outside of Antonio Gates.

He may be able to be had, but something tells me San Diego will still match just about any offer Jackson gets, and it's very unlikely that they actually trade him.
Possible Destinations: Washington, Cleveland, New York

So... in an article called "Eight Guys Who Could Be On the Move", and that lists VJ as among the eight, it goes on to say "I don't know why anyone seriously thinks the Chargers are going to let Jackson get away".

Sounds like something my ex-wife might have written. [IMG]

but, then you would have still misunderstood it and it would be your fault.

PS. couldn't every RFA be on the move? Potentially???

It's bleacher report, folks. Don't expect accuracy or style. If the spelling is correct, consider it a victory.

Maybe they heard it on the "US 800 number", as opposed to the Mexico 800 number

One of Hacksaws token lines is that his "U.S. 800 number" is open. I was being sarcastic as if the station had a 800 number from another country.

When John Jefferson left (most of us were in deep mourning) and then we got Wes Chandler who was every bit as good.

Gene Klein was a cheap mo-fo and did not want to give JJ the money he deserved. JJ screwed up using the media to break down his contract when it should have been kept in house. V.J. is getting his love yet is screwing it up in the police blotter.

Is this history repeating itself ?

VJ is going no where. If we drop a receiver it will be Buster in a throw in With Sproles or a pick to move up.

How people can look to Bleacher report for their news is beyond me. That place is a joke with some of the biggest idiot writers I have ever read

I'd rather not have to hope we get another WR just as good just because it happened before. :icon_shrug:

I think Buster has to produce this season or he will be sent packing. This could be his make or break training camp.

Charger fans have to ask themselves a hard question here.

Is Vincent Jackson worth $10 million per year ?

Fitzgerald inked a 4 year $40 million deal and Marshall signed a 5 year $10 million deal.

Guaranteed moneys are between $24 - $32 million.

    Or

is VJ worth slightly less ?

    My vote is slightly less.

Marshall got 4 years/ $47.5 mil, which is almost $12 mil a year.

And NO VJ isn't worth that much, but that is what he will get. I just doubt it is from the Chargers

With the extension, Marshall's deal is basically $10mil/yr., so figure that will be VJ's asking price.

If he decides to pull his head out of his *** re: off-field incidents & stupid outbursts on the field, then yeah ... he's worth it. He's a huge weapon on this offense & we've invested a lot of time in him.

I'd be ok with the Chargers giving VJ a contract in the 8-9million a year range

The Chargers have got to sign on of those FA, Gates will be up after 2010 also, who knows if there will be a franchise tag, et. and even if there is one VJ, McNeil and Gates merits one

I'd give him around 8 million or so, offer him that. Also include incentives and give him some bonus money upfront. I think a comparable amount like 8-10million would make him happy.

    BUT I'd include
*A bunch of penalties that cause him to pay back or give up a percentage of his bonus each time he ends up in a police blotter. He can go out and party, but if he gets caught by the cops, he loses his money.
*Take a percentage of each bonus and give it to either cloud nine shuttle, yellow cab, a limo company or Philip Rivers so VJ has someone to drive his *** around so PR doesn't have to run out and pick him up from the side of the road

Is our QB's top target worth that much? I'd say yes.

I feel the need to point out that I hate that the market works this way, though.

Just because Marshall is getting paid 10-12 per doesn't really mean any WR as good as him is worth that. That's simply what the Dolphins' GM determined Marshall is worth. The Dolphins' GM is not the end all-be all on player worth, that's just what he decided he can afford to pay his top WR.

But, sadly, that is how the market works so I say we pony up the money to one of the three main reasons our offense is so good that they can win with a ****** run game and a mediocre defense.
