    VJ officially added, Brown released
    BY KEVIN ACEE
    TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2010 AT 2:52 P.M.

The Chargers made the expected move of adding wide receiver Vincent Jackson to the roster, cutting kicker Kris Brown to make room.

The Chargers kept Brown an extra week just in case Nate Kaeding suffered a setback with his groin injury.

But with Antonio Gates and Ryan Mathews still uncertain to play against the Indianapolis Colts, Brown was the most expendable. The Chargers, at least for now, have to keep tight end Kory Sperry and running back Curtis Brinkley on the roster.

Jackson signed with the Chargers Oct. 29, ending a contract impasse. But he was on the Roster Exempt List, which meant he had to sit out three games after signing and reporting.

"I'm excited to get Vincent back," head coach Norv Turner said. "I think the fact that he's had three good weeks of practice to get ready, that he's gonna be ready to go play at a high level."

We should have cut Kaeding instead of Brown.

Now VJ will be playing for a Long Term Contract either with the Bolts which in my opinion is unlikely or for some other team.

I do not want to hear anyone say he missed a kick because of his groin. He says he is healthy and they released his insurance. As a kicker you can not screw your team and try to play when injured.

And would someone please clarify what this guys expected range is? One week 52 yards is in his range and the next week it is not. Now I am getting worked up.

For the record, he only missed clearing the crossbar by two feet...

Me too. I high fived my nephew before they said no good...

For the record, I'm still holding out hope we can get a deal done with VJ. I don't want to see him go.

It would be nice to work something out with VJ, but it's not likely - too much bad blood during his holdout and his asking price will likely be prohibitive, especially if he plays well and I see no reason why he would not...he only has about 6 games to prove himself worthy of a big payday from some team, and I predict he'll make the best of it.

Nate's kickoffs against Denver were just AWFUL. Worse than his usual crapfest kickoffs. I say he's still not 100%. Hopefully nobody picks up Brown.

For the record, his current range is 51 1/2 yards... That's gotta be worth something.

It's funny how most all of us are in agreement i.e. we should have kept Brown and dumped Kaeding.

Ok 51 1/2 yards. Now we have confirmed that it is 51 1/2 yards....... if it is straight. What about playoff games? Does the range change for those?

    Depends on the state.

    U.S. states with container deposits

According to 2004 U.S. Census Bureau statistics, approximately 30% of the U.S. population currently reside in states or territories with existing container deposit laws:

California (5¢; 10¢ for bottles 24 fl oz or greater)
    Connecticut (5¢)
    Delaware (5¢)
    Hawaii (5¢)
Iowa (5¢ for containers that held carbonated beverages)
Maine (5¢, also applies to fruit juice and bottled water; 15¢ for some wine bottles)
Massachusetts (5¢ for containers that held carbonated beverages)
    Michigan (10¢ non-refillable, 5¢ refillable)
    New York (5¢)
    Oregon (5¢)
Vermont (5¢; 15¢ for most liquor bottles as of 1990)

Looks like he is getting paid pretty well for those missed FG's. :p

I never knew SD had a deposit. I thought Michigan was the last a s s backward state in the union.

Every 4 weeks or so I take our aluminum cans from el rancho de TrumpetMan and I get $25.00 back in recycling fees. It is nice to see that pot of aluminum gold grow into cashish. I think we get around $1.50/lb. for aluminum cans.

I am not ready to give up on Nate. Not yet. I think he will get the Scotty Norwood curse off his as.s and CoronaDoug will have to find another victim for his evil campaign.

CoronaDoug is powerful. His hate is pure. That gives him an edge. I fear for Nate.

that's the problem. that's only 15 cans here. We pay .10 deposit. but we can't crush them if we want our money back. the only way is to feed them into this gawd awful stinky machine one by one. big pain in the butt. Stoopid state.

This is my calling. I was placed on this earth to spread the word of what was to come.

The Football Gods are sending another prophecy but I am withholding it until the start of next season. Just remember this.

I think I might be out of a job soon. The current prophet can not protect Nate any longer. Does this mean I just abdicated the throne ?

Nate is heading down the same path as John Carney in the short kickoffs despite have an accurate career.

No there is room for both of us. I am a different type of prophet. :D

I do not recall John having issues in the mental department. ;)

As long as we don't need a 50 yarder I think he's fine, but he has never kicked off very well. Brown didn't do much better on kickoffs. I say punt and pin the opponent and go for the safety.
